  • Commercial Manager

    Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with experience pricing projects from 1st Principles and looking to take the next step in your career?
    Our client is an established SME civil engineering contractor, specialising Soft Strip, Demolition, Structural Alterations, Cut & Carve and Groundworks.
    As the ideal candidate, you will have experience and enjoy working on the full project life cycle from cradle to grave, be able to work independently, in a business with no politics and want to have freedom to make your own decisions.
    Commercial Manager roles and responsibilities:
    Reporting to the Operations Director and managing a small commercial team of 2, you will be responsible for pricing tenders from 1st Principles, and delivering projects under D&B JCT & small works contracts. Day to day commercial management and contract administration of projects from £50k to £2.7m, acting as either a specialist subcontractor or Principle Contractor. Attending live sites weekly to support site teams and capture any Variations. Review contracts for prospective works, preparing monthly forecasts and CVR’s, place and manage specialist sub-contract orders, submit applications to clients, managing any change, claims and Final Accounts.
    Commercial Manager requirements:
    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar qualification and relevant experience At least 2 years’ experience working for a specialist contractor delivering Soft Strip, Demolition, Structural Alterations, Cut & Carve and Groundworks. At least 8 years post-grad commercial experience, with full project lifecycle experience. Comfortable Estimating from first principles and assisting in the completion of PQQ’s. Experience mentoring and training junior staff. Must be comfortable within a client facing role as work winning is a key element of the role. Able to work independently and confident in making your own decisions.

    Job role: M&E Contracts Manager (Mechanical bias)
    Location: City of London/Surbiton
    Salary: £62,000 - £70,000 (dependant on experience) + package
    Responsibilities: Ensure contracts are executed successfully, fulfilling all legal PPM obligations. Supervise the completion of responsive repairs and ensure quoted jobs are finished within the agreed timelines. Track and assess contract performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide strong leadership to a team of maintenance engineers, promoting a collaborative and high-performance environment. As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing projects to ensure their safe completion, in accordance with programme, specification, and budget.
