    In this pivotal role, you'll support the Asset Insights Manager in delivering impactful, data-led insights for the AMP8 Investment Programme while helping to define the strategic direction for AMP9.     You will support the Production Technical Team Leader by delivering technical training, carrying out quality assurance checks, and offering expert advice and guidance to the wider team.
    This role involves reviewing work standards, providing constructive feedback to the Production leadership team, and helping to implement changes that enhance operational efficiency. It’s a hands-on, collaborative position that ensures our technical production area continues to operate reliably and effectively.
    What will you be doing?

    What will you be doing?Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent Portsmouth Water and Non-Statutory Sub-Group meetings. Regular meetings with Stakeholders, to monitor schedule of works and coordinate activity. Production of monthly progress reports and governance approval papers. Oversee all direct reports allocated to the project packages and their future successful progression. Lead procurement, monitoring, and performance of the contract/subcontract packages. Liaise with external stakeholders to secure agreement or acceptance of the project delivery plans. Liaise with Portsmouth Water internal stakeholders to ensure that the project is ready for a seamless handover into operation on completion through asset integration. Ensure project development is in accordance with the standards of, specifications, requirements and policies established by Portsmouth Water and Havant Thicket Project. As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance of our water treatment works, enabling the effective production of safe drinking water. Ensuring all equipment at the treatment works is operating safely and efficiently, you will provide mechanical and electrical support and expertise to ensure the reliable and efficient function of all our assets.

    What will you be doing?
    Key Responsibilities Install, configure, commission low voltage switchgear, motor drives, valves, gas dosing equipment, pneumatic plant, pumps and motors. Read, understand and work from mechanical and electrical drawings. Ensure that equipment is installed and calibrated to the manufacturers specifications and is auditable. Supervise team members and assist with their development and learning. Exchange information with other team members, plant operators and departments within the Company as required. Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner to maintain internal change control standards. Monitor external activities in the areas surrounding our works for any activities that may affect the integrity of the water sources, asset reliability, available leakage measures, and levels of unplanned outage. Recommend design changes, if necessary, to ensure that plant continues to function efficiently and effectively to maintain levels of service. Commission chemical-dosing systems to enable efficient control of water treatment, responding to installation issues and operational changes to optimise levels of service. Assess and optimise energy on site and carry out checks for safety, security, and productivity, reporting any faults, issues and concerns that need escalation. Ensure the appearance, cleanliness and operation of our sites meets company standards, whilst maintaining water quality and hygiene standards. Ensure all work is carried out in line with the Company’s Water Production procedures and in full compliance with on-site Health and Safety, Quality Standards, OFWAT (Office of Water Services), DWI (Drinking water Inspectorate), Environmental Agency regulations and EUSR - Energy & Utilities Skills Register standards for clean water operations. Comply with the Company’s standards, policies, processes, systems, and procedures to ensure all risks are identified, managed, and mitigated. Keep Work and Asset records up to date to ensure that they are satisfactory for internal audits.

ONC / Level 3 In electrical or mechanical engineering and a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant field within water utility or similar industry or equivalent experience as specified below. BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Relevant experience in a process and industrial environment. Experience implementing process improvements via control system modifications and experience in diagnosing and fixing complex process and control system faults. Knowledge of Chemical Handling. This role is key in ensuring delivery of safe and wholesome drinking water to our consumers.
    What will you be doing?
    Key Responsibilities
    Visit water treatment works, pumping stations and reservoirs to carry out essential duties and monitor the performance and operability of our assets. Assist with optimising the operation of our production assets to ensure that water quality continues to meet all internal standards and statutory requirements at each treatment stage, whilst optimising energy, quality and performance. Provide support to colleagues in the field where complex process issues arise and investigate the root cause of water quality and process issues, advising on corrective actions. Operate and maintain treatment works assets, monitoring, recording and interpreting water samples to ensure treatment process are working effectively. Provide training and mentorship to colleagues within Production and other areas of the business, keeping records of competency and continuous improvement. Work closely with Process Science and to have collective responsibility for water quality. Creating and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and carrying out risk assessments. Monitor external activities in the areas surrounding our assets for anything that may affect the integrity of the water sources or treatment processes. Data collection of water quality and asset performance, recording routine activities and work completed.
    Ensure the appearance, cleanliness and operation of our sites meets company standards, whilst maintaining water quality and hygiene standards.

    We’re making a difference: Together, we can ensure that there is enough water for everyone, now and in the future.Portsmouth Water is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Havant Thicket Reservoir project to provide critical support to the Engineering Manager in delivering this landmark infrastructure development. The role involves managing design reviews and technical queries in collaboration with experts, ensuring compliance with reservoir safety standards and contractual timelines. The Lead Engineer will oversee specific engineering work packages, act as the technical lead on smaller project components, and ensure the availability of accurate data for contractors. Additionally, the role requires engagement with internal teams and stakeholders to secure alignment on solutions, as well as contributing to the development of improved engineering assurance systems and processes.What will you be doing?Key Responsibilities
    Chair regular meetings with the Design Guardians to discuss the lookahead, open actions and ongoing issues
    Manage the response to Technical Queries and Design Submissions by the main works contractors and manage the liaison, input and expectations of all stakeholders
    Monitor and assess the performance of the Design Guardian against KPIs and regularly review this with them and provide feedback
    Coordinate general requests from and to contractors on engineering matters
    Participating in collaborative planning with Main Works Contractors.
    Chair weekly meetings with PW Operations to discuss, answer and resolve outstanding queries and issues
    Chair technical workshops between PW Operations, mains works contractors and the Design Guardian to ensure alignment and buy-in of proposed solutions
    Provide engineering representation at Early Warning meetings to assist in either responding to them or take them away for later resolution
    Provide regular updates and reports to the HTR Engineering Manager, on progress, forecasts and issues
    Undertake monthly reviewers of the Contractors Programme to inform resource forecasting
    Manage and or produce Engineering led papers to support stakeholder engagement and governance processes
    Attend regular meetings with the HTR Engineering ManagerWhat do you need?Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
    Strong communication and presentation skills
    Effective stakeholder engagement skills
    Good understand and appreciation of the “design process” and its commercial implications
    Strong team player with good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
    The ability to manage and coordinate inputs from multiple parties
    Ability to work to deadlines with a focus on results and quality
    High competency in Excel/Powerpoint/Word/Teams
    Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related field of study
