Due to growth in the team, we are looking for multiple dedicated and collaborative Production Maintenance Technicians to help care for and maintain our production assets. This is a hands-on role that blends technical expertise with teamwork, continuous learning, and meaningful impact across our water treatment and distribution networks.

    What will you be doing?
    Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the delivery of planned maintenance across key assets and ensure we’re working in line with schedules.Carry out maintenance on instruments, low voltage switchgear, dosing equipment, pneumatic systems, valves, pumps, and motors.Visit treatment works, pumping stations, and reservoirssupporting the operability and performance of our sites.Monitor and gather asset performance data and record your work clearly and accurately.Read and interpret electrical diagrams with confidence and attention to detail.Respond quickly and thoughtfully to equipment breakdownstroubleshooting issues, sourcing spares, and repairing systems.Ensure our equipment is maintained and calibrated to high standards, in line with audit requirements.Collaborate with team members, operators, and departmentssharing insights and exchanging vital information.Maintain documentation to support internal processes and uphold compliance.Keep a close eye on any external activities that may impact our water sources, reliability, or operational effectiveness. In this role, you will support the Production Technical Team Leader by delivering technical training, carrying out quality assurance checks, and offering expert advice and guidance to the wider team.
    This role involves reviewing work standards, providing constructive feedback to the Production leadership team, and helping to implement changes that enhance operational efficiency.     What will you be doing?
    Key ResponsibilitiesRespond to process alarms triggered via telemetry, identifying and resolving issues remotely or on-site, or escalating where necessary.Diagnose and repair breakdowns across a wide range of plant equipment, assessing faults and taking appropriate corrective action.Investigate plant failures and coordinate or carry out prompt, efficient repairs to minimise operational disruptions, including collaborating with others to resolve complex faults.Monitor external activities near operational sites that may impact the integrity of water sources.Perform routine maintenance on production assets to ensure reliability and compliance.Act as an escalation point for plant and equipment defects, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.Initiate and oversee service contract work, verifying the scope and quality of completed tasks.Support effective material usage and demonstrate awareness of budgetary considerations.Collaborate with Investment and Non-Infrastructure teams to ensure successful delivery of capital projects.Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to technicians and apprentices, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and compliance with procedures, while offering input on non-routine activities and technical changes.What do you need?

For 365 days of the year our water treatment works are in constant operation ensuring that we meet the water demands of our customers. Our Production team operate and maintain our treatment works and, due to company growth, we are looking to recruit an EICA Technician.
    In this role, you will work at water treatment works, reservoirs and booster stations across Hampshire and West Sussex. You will be maintaining, fault finding, testing, inspecting and repairing EICA plant and equipment for the area's water treatment works and associated Network distribution assets. You will be self-motivated, flexible and have good attention to detail, working as part of a team ensuring all work is carried out in line with the Company’s procedures and in full compliance with onsite Health and Safety. *Note that the standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000 - £10,000 per annum.*
    Key Responsibilities:
    Ensure compliance with planned maintenance schedules. Maintain, diagnose, repair, modify, configure and commission instrumentation, logic controllers, SCADA systems, telemetry equipment, control circuitry, low voltage switchgear and motor drives. Visit water treatment works, pumping stations and reservoirs to monitor asset performance and operability. Collect asset health and performance data, recording routine activities and work completed. Respond to breakdowns on a range of EICA plant, assess problems and carry out repairs. Ensure that equipment is maintained and calibrated to the manufacturers specifications and is auditable. Supervise team members and assist with their development and learning. Exchange information with other team members, plant operators and departments within the company as required. Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner to maintain internal change control standards.
    Qualifications and Experience:
    Adaptable with good attention to detail. Accountable for own actions with a willingness to collaborate with others, whilst developing and sharing knowledge, ideas, and best practice with others. Empathetic, self-aware, and comfortable with constructively challenging areas that could be improved. Systems based skills, open to learning new technology. Passionate about providing an excellent service, to our customer, colleagues, across teams within Portsmouth Water. Computer and smart phone literate.
    A recognised apprenticeship in a relevant field.
    An HNC/HND in electrical and/or electronic engineering.
    BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Relevant experience in a process and industrial environment. Experience in diagnosing and remediating complex system faults. Experienced working with PLC, SCADA and telemetry software packages. Knowledge of OT communications protocols. Knowledge of basic hydraulic principles. Proficient with working from electrical drawings. A good understanding of water treatment processes and / or water industry exposure. Full UK driving licence (Will be required to undertake our driver assessment).

The person in this post will be responsible for preparing and managing the flushing programme and the effective flushing of the distribution network, ensuring the effective development, deployment and day to day supervision of the team to ensure that team activities are consistent with and compliment Portsmouth Water operating procedures.

    What will you be doing?
    Key Responsibilities Ensure that all network activities and operations are undertaken in an appropriate and timely manner with due consideration, communication, and safe execution. That all operations are completed in line with the relevant PW policies/procedures/RAMS. Review and report on all team key activities and recommend any process improvements to maintain/enhance PW performance. Ensure all team risk and COSHH assessments are correct and reviewed in line with PW expectations. Assist with the effective and timely reactive and proactive response to operational events and incidents. Ensure that all field activities are undertaken with the required customer communications, permits and approvals in place (or in retrospect where applicable), and that all relevant information/data is subsequently returned/processed. Deliver excellent customer service when dealing with internal and external customers. Participate in out of hours work (network operations will dictate when flushing can commence).

    What will you be doing?
    Key Responsibilities Visit water treatment works, pumping stations and reservoirs to carry out essential duties and monitor the performance and operability of our assets. Assist with optimising the operation of our production assets to ensure that water quality continues to meet all internal standards and statutory requirements at each treatment stage, whilst optimising energy, quality and performance. Provide support to colleagues in the field where complex process issues arise and investigate the root cause of water quality and process issues, advising on corrective actions. Operate and maintain treatment works assets, monitoring, recording and interpreting water samples to ensure treatment process are working effectively. Provide training and mentorship to colleagues within Production and other areas of the business, keeping records of competency and continuous improvement. Work closely with Process Science and to have collective responsibility for water quality. Creating and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and carrying out risk assessments. Monitor external activities in the areas surrounding our assets for anything that may affect the integrity of the water sources or treatment processes. Data collection of water quality and asset performance, recording routine activities and work completed. Ensure the appearance, cleanliness and operation of our sites meets company standards, whilst maintaining water quality and hygiene standards. Ensure all work is carried out in line with the Company’s Water Production procedures and in full compliance with on-site Health and Safety and quality standards.
    What do you need?
    Skills, Qualifications & Competencies Industry water operations related qualification E.g. CABWI Level 4 in Water Operations. EUSR National Water Hygiene (Blue) Card/SHEA Water (Can be provided if required). An advanced understanding of water treatment and distribution processes, and the regulations that govern them. Experience working with SCADA/HMI process control systems. Experience working with chemicals, COSHH awareness. Experience working in Medium/High Risk Confined Spaces. Excellent report-writing, with an emphasis on clarity and attention to detail, often working to tight deadlines. Analytical with proven experience of data processing, mapping, and auditing. Empathetic, self-aware, and comfortable with constructively challenging areas that could be improved. Adaptable and able to prioritise workload and respond quickly to changing business needs.
