    Key Responsibilities

    Educational Leadership : Develop and implement a vision that aligns with our ethos of the Polaris Community embracing compassion, inclusion, and personalized learning.     Safeguarding: Acting as the Designated Safeguarding lead and collaborating with safeguarding partners, manage and report all concerns appropriately and put in place policies and procedures to develop a robust safeguarding culture in the school.

    Curriculum Enhancement : Adapt and tailor the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our students, ensuring a stimulating and engaging learning journey preparing pupils for next step.

    Pastoral Care and SEN Advocacy : Champion a nurturing pastoral approach, emphasizing emotional well-being, mental health, and social development. Advocate for the rights and needs of our SEN students, aligned with EHCP objectives, within the wider educational community.

    Staff Development : Support and mentor staff, promoting continuous professional growth and fostering a collaborative team spirit.

    Community Engagement : Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external partners to create a cohesive support network, ensuring the growth and development of the school.

    Qualifications and Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with Primary/Secondary teaching experience. Suitable First degree and /or NPQH ( not essential) Experience working with SEN students and a deep understanding of their unique requirements. We are seeking someone with a minimum of 2-3 years' management experience and experience of working with children aged 11-17 who have emotional and behaviour difficulties.

We work closely with other appropriate agencies and professionals and the quality and professionalism of our staff is therefore of paramount importance.

    Main Purpose of Role:

    Registered Managers are accountable for delivering high quality care to the children and young people resident within the home. This means that they are responsible for delivery of all care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the home, and all day to day management matters. They will demonstrate the ability to build on the principles and practice standards expected at Area Camden and proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of childcare standards at Area Camden.

    Registered Managers are responsible for delivering childcare that is focussed on obtaining the best outcomes for each child and young person within the home. Consequently, they are expected to demonstrate practical leadership in childcare, as well as organise and support staff to provide the best possible care for each young person. This involves being personally available, as well as the supervision and mentoring of staff, organisation of work patterns, and facilitation of care focussed training, and accessing of appropriate services to support the childcare practices within the home

    The ideal candidate would have an NVQ level 5 in Management and a minimum NVQ level 3 Caring for Children and Young People. Experience of managing staff, excellent written and verbal communication skills and leadership skills are essential qualities. Knowledge of the Children's Act 1989 and Care Standards Act 2000 relating to Children's Homes Regulations is required along with safeguarding procedures.

    While the home manager is employed for 40 per week, they are expected to arrange their own work rota which may involve evening, weekend and night shifts duties. The home manager is wholly responsible for ensuring an appropriate staff presence to meet the childcare needs of the children and young people in the home.The post is subject to a six month probationary period. Annual leave is 32 days per annum this includes Bank Holidays, in the first three years this will increase to an additional day for the first there years.     DUTIES WILL INCLUDE: Support foster parents and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for all children and young people in foster care.     As Deputy Manager you will support the Registered Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of Area Camden's service delivery. Promoting a caring environment which provides young people aged 11 to 18 with a high standard of specialised personal care, meeting individual needs and ensuring everyone is treated with respect and dignity and rights to privacy and independence. To support the Registered Manager to supervise, monitor and evaluate the care delivered to young people ensuring legal and up to date registration requirements are delivered in line with Area Camden's Statement of Purpose.

    Main Duties :To work under the direction of the Registered Manager (RM) and deputise for the Registered Manager as and when required. To supervise Key/Support Workers and ensure supervision processes are implemented and recorded with designated staff. To support the RM with the day-to-day running of all aspects of the home including; the standards and quality of care, recruitment and training, communication with the team, the premises of the Care Home and financial matters. To recognise and assess individuals' needs, involving relevant professional agencies and relatives where needed, in order to formulate personalised care plans for each individual including identifying and supporting young people's cultural, social and emotional needs and interests. To provide the highest level of personal care and attention to young people following individual care plans carefully and ensuring all contact is polite, friendly, warm and supportive. Promoting the social and emotional wellbeing & development of young people and to consistently strive to further develop these skills. To promote and encourage positive behaviour, education, independence and self-determination. To ensure services are delivered in a non-judgemental and anti-discriminatory manner challenging oppression or discrimination in a positive and appropriate manner. To promote and encourage active participation in decision making processes to ensure young people receive a holistic approach to their development.
