    Are you an organised and detail-oriented administrator looking for your next challenge? Network Recruitment Wales is seeking a Business Support Officer (Grade 5) to provide essential administrative and business support to the Housing and Communities Service in Newport. This is a temporary, four-week assignment designed to assist with a key project within the Community Cohesion team.
    What You’ll Do: Deliver high-quality business and administrative support to ensure efficient service operations.Operate and maintain financial systems, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.Identify and recover any overpayments, agreeing payment plans within a defined framework.Manage the procurement of goods and services, following approved methods of acquisition.Process payments using a Newport City Council credit card, in line with NCC procedures.Collect, verify, and analyse performance data, producing and distributing accurate management reports.Act as a first point of contact for internal teams and partner agencies, providing information, advice, and guidance.Organise meetings, prepare accurate minutes, record decisions, and follow up on associated actions.Support and assist with service projects and initiatives as required.Ensure the security of IT equipment, data, and corporate accounts, complying with relevant policies. What We’re Looking For: Strong administrative and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management systems.Ability to analyse information, produce reports, and manage competing priorities.Experience in a local authority or similar environment (desirable).A proactive, team-oriented approach and the ability to work independently when needed.     Due to continued growth and a prestigious new project win, they are now seeking an experienced Groundworks Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a high-profile Government project in South Devon.

     

     

    The Role

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of a major project that will provide a vital asset to the local community.

     

    Working closely with the project delivery team, you will oversee all financial elements from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

     

    Key Responsibilities:
    Manage the contractual control and cost management of groundworks and civil engineering packagesOversee subcontract procurement, negotiation, and account management from award through to final accountPrepare valuations, variations, and cost forecastsSupport the project delivery team with accurate financial reporting and contract administrationMonitor budgets, cost plans, and profitability across the project lifecycleAssist with tender preparation and commercial strategy  

    About You:

     

    We’re looking for someone with solid groundworks or civil engineering experience and a hands-on approach to commercial management.

     

    Requirements:
    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks or civil engineeringStrong understanding of contract administration, procurement, and change managementExcellent commercial awareness and analytical skillsProficient in MS Office (particularly Excel)Strong communication and negotiation skillsFull UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally Desirable:
