Production Engineer – Milling
Pailton Engineering is growing its operations and is now looking for an experienced Production Engineer – Milling to enhance and optimise our CNC milling processes. About the Role
As a Production Engineer – Milling, you will take the lead in planning, coordinating and improving CNC milling operations. You’ll focus on improving quality, reducing cycle times, and driving productivity through smarter tooling strategies, better programming, and operator support.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong CNC background who is ready to step into a lead role that offers ownership, variety, and visibility across the production floor. You’ll work closely with machinists, engineers and the wider production team to ensure precision standards are consistently achieved.
Hours, Location & Pay
Location: Phoenix House, Holbrook Lane, Coventry, CV6 4AD
Salary: Up to £45,000 per year + Overtime (enhanced rate of 1.5x)
Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time, based on-site
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate and improve all milling operations in line with production goals
Develop and optimise CNC milling programmes for quality and efficiency
Select appropriate tooling and cutting parameters to maximise productivity
Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing projects
Provide training and mentoring to CNC machinists and operators
Troubleshoot milling-related issues and implement corrective actions
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and ISO/IATF standards
Key Skills & Experience
Experience in production engineering, specifically within HAAS (or similar) CNC milling environments
Strong knowledge of CNC programming and CAD/CAM (e.g. EdgeCAM, Fusion 360)
Ability to analyse tooling and cycle time data to improve throughput
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
Recognised qualification, apprenticeship or timeserved.
