    What You'll Do
    As a Specialist Customer Service Officer, you'll be the first point of contact for adults seeking support. You'll offer a welcoming voice and a steady hand, responding to enquiries from the public and partner agencies including health professionals, police, and fire and rescue services. Main daily duties will include: Responding to customer enquiries via phone, email, and web referrals Making outbound calls to follow up on enquiries and referrals Reading reports and identifying safeguarding concerns for appropriate escalation Processing referrals for Adult Social Care (ASC) and partner services, assessing needs and identifying the priority of cases for onward referrals Using ASC databases to retrieve and update information, resolve queries, or signpost to other services in line with The Oxfordshire Way: Oxfordshire Way strategic vision Oxfordshire County Council Working closely with Team Leaders, colleagues, and external agencies to progress cases through to resolution. You'll navigate a range of health and social care systems to ensure every person receives the right support, first time.
    What We're Looking For Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A -C / 4 or above), including Maths and English, or equivalent. We also welcome relevant knowledge and skills gained through work experience. Confident using Microsoft Office and digital communication tools. Previous customer service experience is essential, particularly in handling challenging conversations by phone and email. Experience in social care or supporting vulnerable people is desirable. Ability to manage your own workload and priorities tasks across multiple channels i.e. email, phone, etc. A genuine interest in helping people, with the ability to actively listen and communicate clearly - both verbally and in writing. Excellent communication, patience, and professionalism are key - especially when dealing with sensitive or emotionally charged situations. You should be confident making decisions independently and know when to escalate more complex enquiries. An interest in social and health care services is important. Familiarity with social care systems (e.g. LiquidLogic or LAS) would be an advantage. Additional Information This role requires a Standard DBS check with Barred List clearance.     The Oxfordshire Shared Lives Scheme supports people to become carers and provide paid care in their own home to adults who need some help and support with day-to-day life. The assistance needed can vary a great deal depending on the individual. The aim is, as far as possible, to enable people to live the kind of life they choose, in an ordinary household. People who use the service need practical and emotional support to live their lives more fully and independently and feel part of a family household. They may have mental health difficulties, a learning disability, physical health needs, be an older person needing extra help, or a young person leaving care requiring continued support. We are keen to recruit people from all backgrounds who feel they can offer this type of paid support in their own home. Shared Lives Carers are approved with the County Council and work on a Self -employed basis. This means that you can still do your 'day job' if preferred or, focus on working from home and offer someone anything from occasional short breaks through to a longer-term, full-time arrangement whereby someone lives with you. You don't need to have had previous experience in Social Care but you do need to have a positive approach, be willing to learn , have a spare bedroom and be comfortable sharing your home. There is a training and assessment process and you will be fully supported by the Shared Lives Scheme. Shared Lives Carers are paid a sessional rate . The weekly rates per person you support are £417- £568. There are special tax arrangements for Shared Lives Carers.     Situated in a unique position on the shores of the Solent and the edge of the New Forest National Park, Calshot Activities Centre is well equipped to offer school students a broad range of environmental experiences.  Environmental Educators teach a wide range of land-based activities including indoor climbing, archery, skiing and team tasks, for which you will receive full training. Based on the end of a Spit, Calshot also has a fantastic water sports department which delivers kayaking, sailing and windsurfing sessions, activities which you can be involved in depending on personal experience and qualifications. What you’ll do: As an Environmental Educator you will be delivering sessions on topics such as Marine Ecology, River and Coastal Geography. We are always looking to develop our sessions to best meet the needs of our schools, so you must be flexible and motivated to contribute to the development of the department. You will spend most of your time working with Key Stage 2 groups following environmental and multi activity programmes during their week-long residential visit to Calshot. You will also be required to fulfil the Duty Manager role including overnight stays on-site or on-call duties based at home.  Our teaching staff generally work Monday to Friday, 09.00-17.30 with one or two evenings working each week. Weekend work is also part of the role, with working hours balanced to give an average hourly working week of 37 hours.
