Job overview The Band Staff Nurse will provide expert, high-quality care for patients with complex and acute respiratory conditions, including those requiring Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV), High Flow oxygen therapy, and other specialised respiratory support equipment. The postholder will manage patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and respond to clinical deterioration, ensuring that care is evidence-based, safe, and patient-centred. They will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, supporting discharge planning, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the unit. Main duties of the job
Clinical Care: Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with complex respiratory conditions, including those requiring NIV, High Flow oxygen therapy, and other respiratory support equipment.
Assessment & Planning: Conduct patient assessments, develop and implement evidence-based care plans, and respond promptly to clinical deterioration.
Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and support junior nursing staff, ensuring safe practice and professional development.
Coordination of Care: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and smooth patient flow.
Quality & Safety: Ensure adherence to OUH policies, national guidelines, and infection prevention standards; contribute to audit and quality improvement initiatives.
Education & Development: Support the learning and development of staff and students within the unit.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely patient records and contribute to risk management and incident reporting as necessary.
