We would like someone with a passion for their work that it is evident on the faces of their key children and in the minds of their parents.   The successful candidate must be qualified to Level 3 or above and have experience of working with children under 5 years old.   You will be: Assisting the senior staff in the planning and preparation of activities to provide a high quality curriculum Carrying out the observation and assessment of individual children and completion of their development records Attending to the physical, social and emotional needs of the children, working in partnership with parents to ensure that each child reaches their potential Participating in on-going training. You will ensure the integrity of the balance sheet, lead on treasury and cash management, and manage an Assistant Accountant while working closely with finance staff across the University and external auditors.   About the Team The Finance and Legal Services (FLS) directorate ensures the University’s financial stability through robust reporting, tax compliance, and treasury management. The team manages key internal relationships across all faculties and external partnerships with auditors and tax advisors to meet strict regulatory and statutory requirements. We are committed to continuous improvement of internal controls and providing professional development and mentorship within the team.   What will I be doing? Managing treasury operations, including cashflow forecasting and maximizing investment returns. Preparing the University’s Financial Statements and subsidiary accounts in accordance with HE SORP and UK accounting standards. Ensuring balance sheet integrity by overseeing reconciliations and the timely closure of the general ledger. Managing VAT and Corporation Tax returns and liaising with external advisors like KPMG. Performing monthly intercompany reconciliations to ensure accurate accounting across the group. Completing mandatory statistical returns for bodies such as the Office for Students (OfS) and HESA. Providing line management and mentorship to the Assistant Accountant, including setting performance objectives. What skills do I need? CCAB part-qualified (or international equivalent) is an essential requirement. Significant experience in financial management within a large, complex organization, including year-end processes. Strong analytical and numerical skills with proficiency in Excel and ERP systems. Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Proven time management abilities to coordinate processes and meet strict deadlines. Desirable: Being a newly qualified accountant/finalist with specific Higher Education finance experience. Desirable: Technical knowledge of the e5 accounting system. This role is based in the Buckley Building at our Headington Campus, offering a modern office environment within a vibrant campus atmosphere. Collaborate closely with industry stakeholders to co-develop next-generation battery control solutions, supporting commercialisation and industrial integration. Provide expert-level technical and research support to the Architectural Engineering Group. Contribute to ongoing research projects, funding applications, and spinout activities, including technical planning and delivery. Lead the development of hardware-software integration workflows for monitoring, diagnostics, and control of battery systems. Produce high-impact research outputs (journal publications, conference papers, and technical reports). Present research results at conferences, consortium meetings, and industrial forums. Engage in knowledge exchange, contributing to grant writing and collaborative partnerships both internally and externally. Undertake a small amount of teaching and assessment and supervision of projects / dissertations for UG students. Coach and mentor PG/ PhD students and where appropriate gain experience of PhD supervision.     We need to add reliable staff to our pool of invigilators for University's examinations. This role is vital to ensuring smooth running examinations and enabling our students to perform their best in every examination.   We are specifically looking for those with experience in being a Chief Invigilator for a large exam room and/or Reader/Scribe Invigilators.    Invigilators will undertake the following tasks:    - Setting out the examination papers and supporting documents/materials in the examination room - Assisting students entering the examination room - Ensuring correct procedures and regulations are followed by students during the examination - Collecting the examination papers and supporting documents/materials at the end of the examination.   There are four main examination sessions every year. However, you must be available for at least some of the dates of the May exam session.   The majority of exams start at 10.00am and 14.00pm and last between one and three hours. You are able to nominate which exam dates and times you are available to work for, so it can fit in with other work or responsibilities you have. Exams take place from Monday to Saturday.   Invigilators are required to arrive 1 ½ hours before the exam and are likely to finish up to one hour after the exam ends.
