This is a remote position. Press Officer – Palestine Accelerator (Remote Position)

The Palestine Accelerator is an initiative from Own The Space. It deploys strategic communications to create platforms for Palestinians to be heard around the world, creating the conditions for political action.  The Accelerator works on political prisoners, cultural silence, the bias in digital platforms and more. It delivers large-scale creative interventions, breakthrough social content and top-tier media designed to change the narrative and shift power.

    This is a remote position.

We’re looking for a strategic, fast-moving Press Officer who can help us shape and shift public discourse around justice, human rights and political accountability for Palestine. With strong knowledge of the US and UK media and a working understanding of influential outlets across Europe, you’ll help us amplify stories that challenge power, inspire solidarity and reframe the debate.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in political communications, media relations or journalism and wants to play a direct role in centering stories from and about Palestine, connecting them with millions of people around the world.

    What You'll Do:
Develop international media strategies that grab attention, often traveling widely on social platforms
Build and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors and producers across major media outlets in the US, UK, Germany, France and beyond.
Write compelling press materials including statements, press releases, and media briefings.
Pitch stories proactively and respond rapidly to breaking news cycles
Monitor coverage and shape media narratives by identifying opportunities for commentary, correction, and amplification.
Collaborate closely with campaigners, creatives and policy experts to align media messaging with broader strategy.

    You have:
A strong track record with at least three years experience working in media, journalism or strategic communications — ideally with an international or political focus.
A deep understanding of the Levant region — including political dynamics, civil society landscapes and the sensitivities around international coverage.
Existing relationships with journalists in major western media outlets — or the confidence and credibility to build them fast.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to write quickly and clearly for different audiences and formats.
Political awareness and good judgment — able to navigate complex issues and respond to fast-changing situations.
A strong sense of how narratives are built, contested, and spread — and the motivation to shape them toward justice.

    Inclusion and Diversity
We know that diverse teams lead to better outcomes and each new hire is a chance for Own the Space to bring in new perspectives and approaches. We welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of gender, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation and cultural identity. We aim for Own The Space to be a welcoming, supportive and creative place to work. For this initiative, we strongly encourage Palestinians or those with roots in the region to apply.
We make our recruitment accessible to any and all people. If you need an accommodation to participate in the application process, please contact us at

    Requirements Requirements:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in media relations, journalism, or political communications
Personal motivation to work on issues impacting Palestine
Strong written English; proficiency in Arabic, German or French a plus
Comfortable working across time zones and remotely within a small, creative team
Ability to write and respond under pressure and on deadline
Preference given to candidates in UK, SWANA, European and EST time zones

    Core Attributes
Below are the core attributes we think will make you successful and happy in the role. You are:
Creative: You know making change is hard, especially when confronting the challenges in this campaign space. You will never stop thinking of ideas and tactics to break through these barriers
Impact driven: You have a focus on impact, constantly assessing the most effective deployment of limited resources. You’re motivated by the difference your efforts make
A doer: You work best when part of a small, collaborative team. You think beyond the limits of your current role, spot opportunities and make things happen. You take risks, are unafraid of failure and never stop generating ideas
A builder: You build relationships with those in your team and your sector. You can bring people together around an idea
A systems thinker: You think in terms of systems and processes and build effective ways of working

Benefits This is a full-time role that can be offered as a fixed term employee or freelance contract. It is initially available as a six month role with strong possibility of extension
Salary is comparable with international campaign organisations and creative agencies
Transparent and fair pay scale; we do not negotiate salaries to prevent pay gaps
Open to two-person applications with complementary skills
Benefits include 35 days annual leave, pro-rata (inclusive of public holidays and grace days) and 6% pension scheme

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, we’d love to hear from you.
Even if this role isn’t the perfect fit, please upload your CV and Cover Letter outlining your motivations for applying — we’re always building our network of creative communicators, campaigners, editors, and strategists.
