Supply Chain Progress Chaser Buyer/Junior Buyer/Expeditor/Purchasing AssistantSalary: Up to £31,000Contract Type: Permanent, Full TimeWorking Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week This role responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of purchased materials, components, goods, and services in line with production, inventory, and customer requirements. Acting as a critical link between suppliers, purchasing, planning, and operations, the role focuses on proactively managing delivery performance, resolving supply issues, and reducing the risk of shortages or delays across the supply chain. Key Responsibilities: Monitor open purchase orders and supplier delivery commitments to ensure on time, in full (OTIF) performanceExpedite overdue or at risk purchase orders through direct supplier communicationConfirm delivery dates, quantities, and shipping details with suppliersMaintain accurate and up to date order status within the ERP/MRP system (Sage 200)Identify potential supply disruptions and proactively escalate risks to BuyersCoordinate corrective actions for late, short, or non conforming deliveriesSupport root cause analysis with suppliers and internal stakeholdersTrack supplier delivery performance and contribute to daily KPI reportingLiaise closely with Purchasing, Production Planning, Inventory Control, and Warehouse teamsSupport Buyers by managing day to day order follow up and expediting activitiesProvide regular delivery status updates and reports to internal stakeholdersEnsure purchasing documentation is accurate and compliant with company procedures and Quality Management SystemsMaintain clear and auditable records of supplier communications, commitments, and actionsSkills &; Competencies: Strong communication and negotiation skillsHighly organised with excellent attention to detailProactive, persistent, and solutions focused approachAbility to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environmentConfidence dealing with suppliers at all levelsStrong data handling and reporting capabilityExcellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)Experience &; Qualifications:Previous experience in Purchasing, Expediting, or Supply Chain rolesExperience using ERP/MRP systems (ideally Sage 200)Good understanding of lead times, delivery schedules, and inventory managementExperience within a manufacturing or engineering environmentKnowledge of Incoterms and basic logistics principles If you’re interested in this position, please apply or contact Jamie Garcia - Courtice at jamie.garciacourtice@orion-group.co.uk.Due to high application volumes, if you do not hear back within 5 working days, please assume your application has not been successful.
