    Graduate Electrical EngineerRole OverviewWe are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Electrical  Engineer to join our growing electrical engineering team. As a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing electrical systems for high-voltage power transmission and distribution networks, specifically focused on renewable energy and decarbonisation infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop a strong technical foundation in electrical design and gain exposure to cutting-edge energy projects.Duties and Responsibilities Electrical System Design: Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for HV power transmission and distribution networks, ensuring they meet the requirements of renewable energy projects. Design Software & Tools: Use industry-standard electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory to create and modify electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and system models. Project Support: Work closely with senior design engineers to support the preparation of design documentation, specifications, and reports for electrical systems. Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure seamless integration of electrical designs into overall project plans. Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant electrical codes, industry standards, and safety regulations (such as IEC, BS7671, and National Grid standards). Testing & Validation: Assist in the testing, validation, and commissioning processes to ensure that electrical systems meet performance criteria and quality standards. Problem-Solving & Innovation: Identify areas for improvement within designs, propose engineering solutions, and work with the team to implement them efficiently. Health & Safety: Ensure that all designs comply with health and safety regulations and contribute to the promotion of safe working practices within the team. Professional Development: Participate in training and development programs to enhance your knowledge of electrical design principles, renewable energy systems, and engineering tools. Skills and Experience: Educational Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline. A strong interest in electrical system design and renewable energy technologies. Skills and Experience: A basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly related to HV transmission and distribution systems. Experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) or electrical design tools is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (IEC, BS7671, IEEE, etc.). Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions. The Project manager plays a crucial role in delivering Utilities project in a safe manner by providing expert advice, guidance, and support on health and safety matters. Our diverse portfolio spans critical national infrastructure projects across Scotland's transport and energy sectors.About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Design / Bid Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong civil engineering background and experience in Design & Build environments. You will lead design and build tenders, developing innovative and cost‑effective solutions that meet client requirements. Working closely with our estimating, commercial and legal teams, you will ensure that all bids are compliant, competitive and aligned with company standards. You will report to the Pre‑Construction Manager and collaborate with the wider bid team.

    The role is primarily based at our Stocksfield office, with travel to project sites across the UK as business needs require.Key ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to define project objectives, scope and deliverables.Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators and take appropriate action to address issues or risks.Lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors and subcontractors.Apply strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and standards.Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, stakeholders and relevant authorities.Attend client bid sessions, workshops and meetings as required.Develop value‑engineering proposals and cost‑effective design solutions.Gather detailed client feedback and support continuous improvement through lessons learned.Support operational handover to delivery teams.Skills & ExperienceExperience working with NEC or FIDIC contracts and involvement in contract negotiation.Strong leadership, team‑management and client‑facing skills.Familiarity with MCHW or National Grid specifications.Experience using MS Project or other planning/programming software.Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to remote sites when required.Benefits PackageCompetitive salary commensurate with experienceCompany vehiclePerformance-related bonus schemeGenerous pension scheme with employer contributionsContinuous professional development support Read Less
