As Managing Estimator, you will lead the estimating function across the business. You’ll take ownership of tender submissions, pricing strategy, and cost planning, while overseeing and mentoring a team of estimators. The role will involve hands-on estimating for a range of projects, as well as strategic involvement in bid management and business development.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and in-house bills of quantities for D&B, civils, and refurbishment projectsLead and support the estimating team, ensuring consistent, high-quality output and professional developmentOversee pre-qualification and tender submissions in collaboration with directors and bid teamsEngage with suppliers and subcontractors to source competitive quotations and build strong supply chain relationshipsIdentify and assess project risks and opportunities, and recommend mitigation strategiesEnsure alignment with company objectives through close collaboration with commercial and senior leadership teamsRepresent the estimating function in internal reviews and client-facing meetingsIdeal Candidate ProfileExperienced estimator with leadership capabilities and a proven track record of pricing projects independentlyStrong commercial acumen and deep understanding of UK construction methods and cost structuresClient-focused with excellent attention to detail and communication skillsComfortable managing both strategic and day-to-day estimating activitiesEssential Requirements5+ years of experience in estimating, ideally including civils and refurbishment projectsExperience managing or mentoring junior team membersProficient in Causeway or similar estimating softwareFull take-off experience across all building elementsRelevant degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related field (preferred)Full UK Driving LicenceExperience pricing both single-stage, two-stage, and negotiated tendersPosition DetailsJob Type: Full-time, PermanentSalary: Competitive, negotiable based on experienceLocation: Office-based with occasional site visitsBenefitsCar allowance33 days annual leave (including bank holidays)Provision of all required PPE and equipmentSupportive, team-focused culture with growth and development opportunitiesNRG is an equal opportunities employer committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
