An excellent opportunity for a Principal Pricing Analyst
Work within our thriving Loss Cost Modelling team
Work from home 80% of your time with 20% at Head Office
About the roleAs a Principal Analyst, you’ll play a key role in setting fair and accurate prices across our diverse portfolio of products, using advanced analytical and modelling techniques to predict claims behaviour and inform pricing decisions.
You’ll act as a technical role model within the Pricing function, applying your general insurance pricing expertise to design, build and maintain loss cost/risk models. This includes extracting, validating and analysing data, identifying underlying trends and drivers of performance, and translating complex outputs into clear, meaningful insights that support decision-making and wider business objectives.
Alongside your technical contribution, you’ll support the development of the wider analyst community by reviewing work, providing guidance and sharing knowledge. This role includes coaching and technical mentoring of less experienced analysts, but does not involve formal line management responsibilities.
Working in Pricing at NFU Mutual feels genuinely different. With a clear focus on customers rather than shareholders, the team’s work has real impact — supporting local communities, protecting livelihoods, and helping our UK wide Agency Network deliver exceptional service. Our Pricing team is central to how we support our customers, and its role is becoming even more crucial. The team is now at the heart of one of NFU Mutual’s most significant transformation programmes, shaping how pricing will operate in the future to ensure fair, insight driven outcomes.
To deliver this transformation, the team is expanding and creating exciting opportunities to join at a pivotal moment. This is a rare chance to influence a high profile, business wide initiative where your work will be visible, valued and acted on. If you want to drive meaningful transformation while developing your own career, now is the ideal time to join us.About youYou’ll bring a strong blend of technical pricing expertise and interpersonal skills, with the ability to analyse complex data, build robust models and translate outputs into clear, meaningful insight. You’re naturally curious, comfortable challenging assumptions, and motivated by solving problems that support fair pricing and better customer outcomes.
You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with others, engaging confidently with stakeholders across the business, and adapting your communication style to suit both technical and non-technical audiences. You’ll be proactive and authentic in your approach, and keen to support the development of others through coaching and knowledge sharing.

You’ll have proven experience in general insurance pricing, supported by strong analytical skills and experience managing, analysing and visualising data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
You’ll have experience building and maintaining loss cost/risk models, including Generalised Linear Models (GLMs), with the ability to interpret outputs and translate them into clear business insight
You’ll demonstrate hands-on experience with pricing and analytical tools, with exposure to at least two of the following being essential: EMBLEM, Radar, R, SQL
You’ll bring strong communication, storytelling and stakeholder management skills, adapting your style to influence, inform and engage a wide range of audiences
You’ll demonstrate effective problem solving and critical thinking, working collaboratively as part of a team and contributing positively to shared goals
You’ll have experience coaching, mentoring or supporting the development of others, building capability through collaboration rather than formal line management

Experience using Python and building Gradient Boosting Models (GBMs), or exposure to other advanced modelling techniques, would be desirable but is not essential.

No insurance experience needed - we’ll give you all the training and support you need to succeed.
Hybrid working that works for you. Once you’re fully up to speed, you’ll have the option to work up to 80% of your week from home, with time in the office to stay connected with your team.

    Start date – Monday, 4th May 2026
    Location – York
    Salary - £25,000 - £27,000 (depending on experience)
Full time working hours – 35 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern, with shifts running between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. No weekend work. About the RoleAt NFU Mutual, our approach to claims is rooted in doing the right thing. We look for ways to settle claims rather than ways not to — because supporting our customers when they need us most is at the heart of what we do.
As a Claims Handler in our York office, you’ll join a supportive team who guide our customers through their claims journey from start to finish. Every claim is different, and you’ll play an important role in helping people get back on their feet when the unexpected happens, all while keeping an eye out for anything that doesn’t quite add up.
We have opportunities within our Motor claims team. You’ll manage claims assigned from our first response team, supporting customers through the full claims journey after incidents such as road traffic accidents, vehicle damage, theft, or write-offs. This could involve assessing liability, liaising with third‑party insurers and repairers, and helping customers reach a fair and timely settlement as they get back on the road.
You’ll spend time speaking with policyholders and our agency network over the phone, as well as carrying out the behind-the-scenes work that keeps each claim moving forward. You’ll be trained to make fair and confident settlement decisions and supported to spot any potential fraud. It’s varied, people-focused work that combines customer conversations with detailed case management — where no two days are the same and your decisions make a real difference.
To help you become the best you can be, we provide comprehensive training when you first start in the office. This includes classroom learning, shadowing and individual support from Team Leaders and senior members of the team. When the training is complete, we’ll provide a supportive learning environment so you can confidently progress on your Claims Handler journey. Your line manager will also support you to build a personal development plan which you can expect to have conversations about all year round.

During your first six months, you’ll be based in the office full time so you can take part in our training programme, get to know your team, and build your confidence in the role. Once you’ve developed your skills and are comfortable managing claims independently, you’ll be able to move onto our hybrid working model — with the flexibility to work up to 80% of your week from home while still staying connected in the office.
Assessments will be taking place in-person at our office in York on 23rd, 24th and 25th March. About YouYou’ll bring your strong customer focus and both written and verbal communication skills to confidently deliver exceptional customer service and build strong relationships. Proficient in using systems and software applications, you also have an eagerness to learn and develop within your role.
Here are the key skills we’re looking for:
Customer service experience – recent experience in a customer-facing role, demonstrating your ability to support and engage with a diverse range of people. While previous experience in claims handling is desirable, it is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided to support your success in this role.
Customer Focus and Empathy – a natural communicator who listens and responds to customers’ needs, making every customer feel valued and reassured.
Adaptability and multi-tasking – comfortable adjusting your approach and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Self-management and teamwork – able to proactively manage your workload, working successfully both independently and as part of a team.

Marketing and Digital Summer Internship Programme
A paid, full-time 8-week summer internship with a trusted, people-focused UK Insurer and Financial Services provider.
Spend your summer working on real campaigns, digital projects and brand initiatives that directly shape customer experience and business growth
Location: Stratford upon Avon with hybrid working available
    Start date: 22nd June 2026
Entry Requirements: You’ll be in your penultimate year of undergraduate study and on track for a minimum 2:1 honours degree in a relevant subject such as Marketing, Communications, Digital, English or Sustainability (though other disciplines will be considered).
    Salary: £24,037 pro-rata
What you’ll be working onMarketing and Digital at NFU Mutual is about more than creating content — it’s about delivering the right message, to the right audience, at the right time, in a regulated and customer-focused environment.
Our teams play a central role in supporting customers’ financial wellbeing — across both general insurance and our comprehensive Financial Services offering — protecting our reputation, driving digital innovation and helping the business grow sustainably.
During your 8-week internship, you’ll gain exposure across one of three specialist areas:

    Financial Services Marketing Campaigns
You’ll support the development and execution of integrated campaigns across pensions, investments and protection, helping to deliver direct marketing activity, seminars, webinars, events, and customer communications. You may review marketing literature, support creative and content development with agency partners, analyse campaign performance data and make recommendations for improvement, all while working within a regulated financial services environment.
    Responsible Business
You’ll contribute to how NFU Mutual delivers and communicates its responsible business commitments – from supporting our communities to caring for the environment. This could include supporting the rollout of key messaging, helping evaluate campaign effectiveness, assisting with performance reporting and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and developing case studies from charitable and community initiatives. You’ll gain insight into how responsible business activity enhances trust, strengthens reputation and supports long-term sustainable growth.
    Digital
You’ll work within a fast-paced digital team focused on improving customer journeys, digital adoption and online performance. You may support website optimisation and content updates through our Content Management System, contribute to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and accessibility improvements, assist with digital experimentation and Pay Per Click (PPC) activity, and use analytics tools to understand customer behaviour and performance trends. You’ll see first-hand how digital channels drive acquisition, retention and customer experience across nfumutual.co.uk.

    You’ll see how we:

Develop and execute integrated campaigns across multiple channels
Use data and insight to measure performance and improve outcomes
Ensure communications are clear, accurate and compliant
Collaborate with internal teams, agency partners and our wider network
Align marketing activity to strategic business objectives

Across the 8 weeks, you’ll experience a balance of exposure and ownership. You won’t just observe meetings- you’ll contribute. You might support campaign execution, review marketing materials and recommend improvements, assist with events or seminars, analyse performance data, contribute to digital optimisation projects, or support the development of responsible business messaging.
By the end of the programme, you’ll have delivered a tangible piece of work you can genuinely talk about in future interviews — something you’ve owned, developed and refined through feedback.
How we’ll support youYou’ll be supported closely throughout your internship, both within your Marketing and Digital team and as part of our wider Internship Programme.
In your first week, you’ll spend dedicated time in the office with your Placement Manager getting to know NFU Mutual, how our Marketing and Digital function supports business strategy and how your placement area fits into the bigger picture. You’ll complete corporate induction learning, receive systems training and agree clear placement objectives, including your end-of-programme presentation brief.
Throughout the 8 weeks, you’ll work alongside experienced Marketing and Digital professionals and collaborate across teams. You’ll see how campaigns are planned, delivered and measured, and how marketing supports customer engagement and commercial outcomes.
You’ll also have access to other interns on the scheme and regular feedback (at least weekly) to help you reflect and grow.
We’ll trust you with real responsibility, but you won’t be left to figure things out alone. You’ll receive guidance, stretch opportunities and regular feedback, while being encouraged to manage your time effectively and take ownership of your work.
By the end of the programme, you’ll deliver a final presentation on your project and leave with tangible experience, stronger commercial awareness and greater confidence in your own capability.
    Application Process
Our application process is designed to be straightforward and focused on your potential. It includes an online assessment, a pre-recorded video interview and a virtual, skills-based interview with members of the team. We’re interested in how you think, communicate and approach problems rather than whether you’ve done this before.
If you successfully complete the internship, you may have the opportunity to be fast-tracked through future graduate programme selection processes, subject to availability and eligibility at the time.
Please note that you must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the internship, as we’re unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
This vacancy may close early depending on application volumes, so we’d encourage you to apply as soon as you feel ready.About YouYou don’t need previous marketing, digital, insurance or Financial Services experience to apply. We’re far more interested in your potential. Any kind of work experience is valuable — whether that’s a part-time role, university project, volunteering or involvement in a society. If you’ve taken ownership of tasks, balanced competing priorities, adapted to new situations or worked collaboratively with others, you’ve already started building skills that matter in this role.
Marketing and Digital at NFU Mutual operates in a regulated, customer-focused environment, so curiosity, adaptability, initiative and a willingness to learn are just as important as technical knowledge.
    We’re particularly looking for:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you’ll contribute to campaigns, collaborate with colleagues and agency partners, and help communicate ideas clearly and professionally across different audiences.
Analytical thinking and commercial awareness – you’ll review campaign and digital performance data, interpret insights and understand how marketing activity supports wider business objectives.
Creativity and problem-solving – whether shaping messaging, improving customer journeys or evaluating campaign effectiveness, you’ll be encouraged to think critically and generate ideas that add value.
Attention to detail and accuracy – working within financial services means ensuring content, reporting and communications are precise and aligned to regulatory standards.
Collaboration and teamwork – you’ll work closely with different teams across and some contact with teams across the wider business, so being able to build positive working relationships is essential.
Digital literacy and a proactive learning mindset – confidence using tools such as Microsoft 365 is important, and you’ll need to be comfortable learning new systems, platforms and ways of working as part of a fast-paced environment.

If you’re motivated, creative and ready to challenge yourself in a professional environment where your contribution genuinely matters, we’d love to hear from you.
