About the role Are you passionate about sports medicine and ready to work at the heart of elite football? Newcastle United is looking for an Assistant First Team Doctor to help deliver world-class medical care to our Men’s First Team squad. You’ll play a key part in our medical team, supporting the Head of Medicine and working closely with physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and the Academy Doctor. Whether it’s providing emergency matchday cover, assisting with injury diagnosis and treatment, or helping to develop best practice protocols, you’ll be central to keeping our players healthy and ready to perform. What will you be doing? Ensuring safe, effective and compliant medical services in line with GMC requirements. Collaborating with other medical professionals to deliver joined-up care. Following clinical governance processes for all player healthcare matters. Assisting with medical decision-making, referrals, and management of medical issues. Providing emergency medical cover at home and away matches. Supporting the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, and medical screening of new players. Helping to develop and implement medical protocols and emergency action plans. Keeping accurate medical records and maintaining professional standards. Staying up to date with CPD and GMC requirements. Adhering to doping control practices and safeguarding policies. What are we looking for? Diploma/MSc in Sport & Exercise Medicine. Level 5 ATMMiF or equivalent. Full Registration/Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council. Experience in General Medical Practice & Sports Medicine. Calm under pressure, resilient, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Flexible, willing to travel, and able to work unsocial hours. Computer literate and hold a full driving licence. Previous experience in an elite sporting environment is a plus. Location This role is based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
