Find out more about NELFT careers and what makes our Trust a great place to work, in this video Job overview We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our established Early Intervention Psychosis Team, based in Walthamstow, East London.
You will be working in an MDT providing specialist Occupational Therapy skills, as well as holding a small generic caseload. The team delivers both 1:1 and groupwork interventions and you will be a large part of that programme. In addition, supervision of junior members of staff such as STR and Peer Support Workers will be required.
We have a good local network of Occupational Therapists both across our other adult mental health, learning disability & children's services and we are also co-located with our physical health services. Main duties of the job Foster recovery through empowerment of service users and carers by involving the service user and carer in the planning of their care establishing and maintaining consistent supportive relationships, which encourage increased self-determination and responsibility for service users and their care.
· Offer a range of evidence-based interventions and risk management approaches enabling the service user and carers to reduce and manage symptoms and high-risk behaviour.
Be proactive, innovative and creative in delivering care, enabling the facilitation of service user’s recovery.
Engage service users and carers in relapse prevention and crisis plans, providing intervention that maximizes the service user’s ability to resolve crisis and prevent hospitalization.
Facilitate early discharge from both inpatient and Home Treatment Team by providing regular, formal reviews.
Deliver a flexible and responsive service through practice that is dictated by service users/carers needs.
Work collaboratively and effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with other agencies.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being
properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters
will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will
undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which
will include mandatory training, systems training and the
allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will
have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior
managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on
engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The
induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
