    Our Advice, Audit & Accounts team is trained to have broad experience across a range of disciplines, from audit and accounts through to tax and other advisory services, so we can support our clients with cross-discipline solutions. These teams work with clients who vary in size, from sole traders to medium and large businesses, across a wide range of sectors including financial services, hospitality, real estate and technology. 

    This position is seeking an individual who is part-qualified in their ACA qualification. You will be part of a tight-knit team, working directly with Partners, Directors, and Managers, providing client focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner.

    As you approach qualification in your third year, you will be able to further enhance the breadth of your experience by supporting the facilitation of internal training, and by learning more about other services and sectors in the business with the opportunity for a secondment. 

    Following qualification, many of our trainees continue their careers within their original teams, opting to maintain a generalist focus, whilst others have moved into other departments including tax, corporate finance and digital transformation.     This role will be audit focused while getting exposure to wider business advisory work. This role includes:  Carrying out audit/accounts and related tax assignments for clients that range  in size and industry. You will actively promote and market the firm and its services, to attract new clients and retain and develop relationships with existing clients, with the opportunity to work across a range of sectors. 
    Key Responsibilities Responsible for the auditing of companies across a variety of industries The role requires some on-site auditing at our clients' offices Demonstrate a clear understanding of audit testing and approach when assisting the audit team across a wide range of sectors Prepare a basic set of unincorporated or company accounts with reference to the relevant Financial Reporting Standards/Statement of Recommended Practice and legal requirements Draft basic corporation tax computations Assist with managing client expectations and deadlines Provide support with drafting recommendations to management following audit fieldwork completion Working with other trainees to deliver assignments and assisting them with their personal development Attend client meetings in collaboration with the Manager / Partner To attend client gatherings or client seminars on an ad hoc basis and to pursue specific areas of interest Regular and varied internal networking, to get to know both your team and the wider firm Demonstrate a solid understanding of double entry/bookkeeping Sustains awareness of all relevant ISA requirements and Moore Kingston Smith internal policies in producing audit files (for example: correct sample size selection, working paper structure/format, etc) Accurately and efficiently process client accounting information using relevant software Using initiative to come up with innovative ideas to improve systems currently in practice with regards to client or staff matters and a platform to be heard in regular team meetings Assist the team with ad hoc duties to support the overall smooth running of assignments Assisting with general administrative duties including meeting and greeting clients, filing, answering the queries and supporting the team to meet deadlines as require  Provide support with drafting of close out audit meeting agenda and points for discussion

    Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Currently studying towards the ICAEW ACA qualification, having completed at least all certificate level papers, or the AAT Level 4 qualification Have achieved a 2:1 or above, from a degree in any discipline. Or, progressed onto the ACA qualification via an alternative route, such as completing AAT Level 4 Have obtained at least 112 UCAS points from three A-Levels, or equivalent qualifications. At least 1 year of audit experience is mandatory, with some experience in accounts and tax being desirable Technically competent Experience of Pro-audit, Caseware, CCH Accounts Production, Xero accounting, Quickbooks and Alphatax, Office 365 would be desirable We’re looking for people who are excellent communicators, adaptable, enjoy building relationships and are passionate about developing themselves.     You will have a particular focus on non-profit organisations, so you will be able to demonstrate the highest technical standards in these areas. Our non-profit clients include Charities, Schools, Oxford colleges, Religious Organisations and NHS charities, just to name a few as well as commercial clients for those wanting a mixed portfolio.
     
    You will be a fantastic communicator, with the ability to explain accounting concepts to clients and you will have the confidence and credibility to attend Governor and Trustee meetings and to present tenders. You will be required to fully immerse yourself in the sector and the area, attending client premises, seminars and the occasional evening event.

    Key Responsibilities Day to day contact with MKS team, clients, HMRC and other professional advisors. Providing upward feedback.  
    Practice Development Attending client gatherings or client seminars on an ad hoc basis. Identifying account development opportunities with clients and progressing these in liaison with the Partner. Assisting with preparation and presentation of new client pitches.  
    Administration Providing innovative ideas to improve systems currently in practice with regards to client or staff matters. Assisting with billing procedures. Assisting with debt collection where appropriate in liaison with client partner.

    Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Relevant Accounting Qualification such as ACA or ACCA or international equivalent.     We are looking for someone to assist with all routine personal tax compliance and ad hoc advisory work. The role requires you to support senior colleagues with their client portfolios. 

    This role follows a hybrid working pattern, with a combination of in-office and remote work. It typically requires three days per week in the St Albans office and an occasional day in the City office as needed.
    Key Responsibilities Preparation and filing of tax returns. Dealing with a range of capital gains tax issues. Liaising with clients, banks and other third parties. Dealing with HMRC queries. Attending client meetings. Data gathering and preparing internal management statistics. Assisting with proposals. Proposing fees, raising client bills and regularly reviewing WIP. Undertaking research on behalf of Managers/Partners.
    Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseTechnical Expertise: Already ATT qualified is desired but not essential Previous tax experience is essential.
