    DescriptionWork closely with the Student Support Coordinator and the Student Welfare Officers, expanding the provision of emotional wellbeing and mental health support for students, complying with relevant Safeguarding legislation and good practice. Support Children in Care within the Virtual Schools Post 16 cohort of Year 12 &13’s, in order to make the best possible progress in learning, personal development and academic progress and achievement.

    This role is a term time only position and is 37 hours a week and 40 weeks a year.
    Main Responsibilities and Duties:The following is an indication of the type and level of the main priorities expected of this role as directed by your line manager and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties or tasks:
    1. Provide day-to-day welfare and pastoral support to students, including listening to and advising on personal issues, referring students to appropriate internal or external services where necessary, helping students access wellbeing and mental health support services, signposting to counselling, student support teams, or external agencies. This includes assisting with the maintenance of accurate student welfare records, including case notes.

    2. Assist in safeguarding procedures, reporting any concerns related to student welfare to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), and ensuring that safeguarding policies and procedures are followed.

    3. Work with students facing barriers to learning (e.g., mental health, financial issues), providing tailored support where required.

    4. Provide regular mentoring sessions for care experienced students, supporting learning and aspirations, monitoring progress in lessons, liaising with tutors, and identifying appropriate / additional support as required, including undertaking attendance checks in respect of punctuality and well-being.

    5. Act as operational link with VSK Post 16 Educational Support Officer for each Kent / Medway child in care.

    6. Understand the requirements of the Personal Educational Plan (PEP) and support the Post 16 Educational Support Officer with arranging these PEPs in a timely and purposeful fashion, ensuring the targets are “SMART” and tracking the achieving of them by students by the next PEP.

    7.  Attend the Personal Education Plan meetings alongside the allocated Welfare Officer and record discussion from the meeting on Kent Electronic Portal (EPEP) system and internal recording systems.

    8. Build and maintain a working knowledge of each Child in Care within the cohort, recognising welfare and safeguarding concerns and flagging any concerns to the allocated College Welfare Officer. 

    9.  Meet routinely with the College Care Experienced Coordinator and Virtual School Kent Education Support Officer to discuss progress, attainment and attendance.

    Main Responsibilities and Duties:The following is an indication of the type and level of the main priorities expected of this role as directed by your line manager and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties or tasks: Note: The below duties relate to both the College and any subsidiary companies. 1.  Work in partnership with senior managers to deliver organisational and departmental business strategy and objectives by providing an HR consultancy and advisory service on issues affecting staff and the terms of their employment with the Group, supporting business planning processes, analysing management information to ensure an effective HR service for departments throughout the Group. This will include ensuring that managers are dealing effectively with employee relations issues by developing business focused plans and engaging and involving HR colleagues to deliver operational support for the delivery of a high-quality proactive HR service.  2. Provide expert advice, guidance and interpretation of employment law and conditions of service for all managers and staff promoting the consistent application of local HR policies and practices across the Group, leading on MKC Training by working closely with HR colleagues to support the delivery of the HR shared service in line with best practice and high quality standards. This will include undertaking HR projects and assignments as required.   3. Manage the local provision of an effective and efficient attendance management system for the Group, leading on MKC Training holding case conferences, liaising with relevant Occupational Health support and other stakeholders to achieve the swift resolution of individual cases, minimising staff absence and promoting organisational performance by driving up attendance rates with suitable interventions for persistent absentees. 4. Support the co-ordination of recruitment activity, working with managers to improve the quality of applicants and appointments and to market the Group as a great place to work Leading and overseeing recruitment and selection processes, advising managers on appropriate procedures and practice to ensure consistent methods and standards are applied throughout the organisation and staffing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.  5. Support in identifying appropriate measures and support aimed at improving capability by supporting the development of performance, productivity and engagement measurements across the Group. This includes working with managers to monitor and review individual, team and departmental progress in respect of both performance and productivity, to ensure that all such plans achieve the relevant targets to improve and maintain the provision of high quality teaching for students and trainees. This will include applying performance management and capability processes as appropriate. 6. Promote and support change management processes for the Group, consulting with trade unions, attending meetings with managers and staff to address individual development and contractual issues, engaging and involving HR colleagues to support the delivery of change programmes, managing redeployment issues as necessary in accordance with policies and practices to facilitate the effective and timely management of change.  7.  Support the revision and develop HR Policies, with a lead on MKC guidance, procedures, processes,  and practices taking account of changes to legislation,  ensuring  the Group are legally compliant and provide good employment practices and procedures at all times to support managers and staff in delivering a first class education for students. This will include assisting with the development of the HR database and on line HR services as and when required. 8. Support job analysis and design of new and revised roles, skills audits and standards to support reward and recognition, staff development processes and succession planning initiatives to ensure the staffing needs of the Group are anticipated and planned for appropriately.  9. Develop and oversee the implementation of plans within directorates to improve the people management skills of managers at MKC, designing and delivering staff development programmes, including sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary and recruitment and selection programmes to ensure that managers are equipped with the necessary skills required to manage staff. This will include supporting the Learning & Development function as and when required. 10. Line manage People Officer, Associate Business Partner, Recruitment & Onboarding Manager and Senior Business Partner undertaking recruitment, selection and absence management, taking responsibility for allocation of duties, training, managing and monitoring individual and team workloads, discipline, development, time keeping, approval of annual leave etc., and the cost effective use of overtime and time off in lieu for staff, ensuring full compliance with relevant college policies and procedures at all times. 11. Support the Director of People by undertaking the lead in projects as required. 12. Deputise for the Director of People as required.

    DescriptionWe are looking for a part-time Level 2 & 3 English Specialist Lecturer to co-ordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including the delivery of high-quality teaching, assessment, and feedback to students, inspiring and motivating students through outstanding teaching and learning that stretches and challenges students to be the best they can be.  Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of delivering of designated courses, including ensuring that the virtual learning environment is kept up to date and that all planning and tracking is completed following College policies. 
    Lecturers should be passionate about their area of teaching and be enthusiastic about developing engaging course materials, lesson plans and assessments that are in alignment with the appropriate A-Level curriculum specification.  You will provide academic support and guidance to promote positive learning outcomes as well as developing employability skills.  All of this will be underpinned by regular target setting and progress monitoring to ensure that all students reach their full potential.


    Main Responsibilities and Duties:The following is an indication of the type and level of the main priorities expected of this role as directed by your line manager and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties or tasks: 1. Deliver high quality teaching provision within the specialism of English (to include A-Level English Language, GCSE English Language and Access to Higer Education – English literature) in accordance with approved College standards and applicable validating/ moderating bodies, preparing teaching materials, schemes of work and lesson plans as required, developing, and implementing the revised curriculum, undertaking quality assurance in collaboration with the Curriculum Manager and Curriculum Director. Assessing student’s written and practical work, monitoring and reporting on their progress as required, including writing regular reviews of students’ Individual Learning Plans, recording, reporting and dissemination of assessment grades and students’ results in liaison with parents, carers and professional agencies as appropriate. This will include maintaining good order in the teaching environment, including statutory aspects such as safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety.  

    2. Undertake day to day course management duties including all communication, problem solving, diagnostic compliance, time table checks and amendments, arranging/ providing cover at short notice for lessons where needed, planning and co-ordinating work experience and enrichment activities, co-ordinating internal verification scheduling, liaising with all relevant departments as required e.g. Exams, MIS, ALS, etc. and complete all related organisation and administration, ensuring cross site compliance and consistency can be maintained at all times. 

    3. Assist with the recruitment and selection of suitable candidates for courses, managing enrolment procedures effectively, including Qualifications on Entry, transfers, additional qualification aims and late enrolments, to ensure that students are registered on the right course at the correct level. This will include assisting with the organisation and implementation of appropriate Induction Programmes for students. 

    4. Undertake all required meetings with students, including regular one to one meetings with students setting and reviewing SMART targets, assisting students with UCAS references, supporting students with their pastoral needs, guiding and directing in both academic and personal matters and liaising with cross-college services e.g. Personal Development Tutors etc. The frequency of student meetings will be determined by the Director of Curriculum.

    5. Monitor student attendance and student results, including start of year registers, exam entry and attendance, co-ordinating and administering course performance monitoring, to report on attendance, retention, achievement and success, with appropriate course and student action plans where required. 

    6. Promote and support English and Maths provision, both in class and on a one-to-one basis, including monitoring and addressing attendance and the movement of students to English and Maths lessons etc.

    7. Attend meetings, including staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, courses and discussions, internal and external to the College as directed and reporting back as appropriate. This will include planning and co-ordinating parent’s evenings/ consultation meetings as directed.

    8. Work with colleagues throughout the College to develop courses, training methods and materials, including attendance at Focus Days and other compulsory CPD events and participate in peer observation for developmental purposes, ensuring adherence to college policies and practices. This will include mentoring new Lecturers as required.

    9. Assist with departmental administration including the timely marking of registers, updating of Pro-Monitor, producing reports on student attendance, retention and achievement and publication of materials on the College’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

    10. Participate in relevant college meetings/ groups/ committees and quality assurance mechanisms e.g. verification, moderation, course reviews and Self-Assessment Reviews (SAR).

    11. Undertake Internal Verification/ Moderation/ Standardisation procedures for an agreed curriculum/ course(s).

    12. Monitor and ensure the timely completion of UCAS references and liaise as required with Higher Education Institutions.

Deal with materials, tools and equipment for workshop sessions, including maintaining stock levels, ordering, unloading of delivered materials, preparation for sessions, issuing to students and monitoring its use, in compliance with H&S and COSHH regulations.

    2. Exercise good and safe workshop practice in compliance with Health and Safety regulations and legislation and to maintain a safe, clean and tidy learning environment.

    3. Monitor and register the attendance of students in workshop, using the relevant College on line system to monitor students’ progress in practical sessions.

    4. Undertake the supervision, training and assessment of students, including monitoring, recording and reporting students’ progress as required on or off site.

    5. Assist students to compile portfolios in accordance with the requirements of the awarding organisation.

    6. Meet regularly with Assessors and Internal Verifier to standardise assessment decisions.

    7. Assist with the delivery of apprentice training programmes both in the work place and in College as required by the Head of Department.

    8. Phone students and parents who do not attend your practical sessions and record this on pro monitor including action plans for students.

    9. Take responsibility for the safe management of materials, chemicals, tools, equipment and instrumentation according to the levels of associated risk during the ordering, storage, use and disposal process with reference to COSHH Regulations and other relevant H&S legislation, including compilation of annual risk assessments.  In addition all post holders will be required to be trained to act as Fire Marshals and First Aiders.

    DescriptionThis role is 15 hours a week and 40 weeks per year. You will support students needing extra help with maths and/ or English, working effectively and confidently on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of young people to develop their skills and knowledge in maths and English and as part of a team to improve the levels of maths and English in students across the College.

    Interviews for this role will take place on the 21st & 22nd August.
    Main Responsibilities and Duties: The following is an indication of the type and level of the main priorities expected of this role as directed by your line manager and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties or tasks:

    1. Support students identified as needing extra support in maths and English and/ or teach language, literacy and numeracy on a one-to-one basis, in small groups or in the classroom, setting SMART targets and reviewing student progress through student records and liaising with relevant staff regarding any changes in support. This will include the preparation of appropriate resources to aid teaching of students with disabilities/ difficulties/ literacy/ numeracy/ language challenges.
    2. Pro-actively identify and work with students needing help with maths and English in partnership with the maths and English lecturers, offering drop-in support as required by students in the maths and English Hubs, delivering extra workshop and revision sessions to small groups of students or in one-to-one sessions in a mentoring capacity. This will include supervising and monitoring students in the maths and English Hubs and where required in the broader college environment.
    3. Complete day-to-day administration including records of support, recording student progress and developing learning materials, 
    4. Liaise with curriculum lecturers and maths and English lecturers regarding planning of support, requesting sequences of learning and lesson plans appropriate to student activities, working as part of the team to support the maths and English Lecturers, Advanced Practitioners and Directors to maximise student achievement.
    5. Promote the development of maths and English including the use maths and English Hubs, through events and activities, working  closely with the ALS team to support young people with additional needs relevant to maths and English, ensuring that students respect the environment and promote positive behaviour of young people. 
    6. Signpost students to relevant support services as and when required.
    7. Attend department team meetings and staff development activities, both within their own department, across curriculum areas and across the College as required. 
    8. Contribute to and participate in parents evenings, enrolment events and open evenings, liaising with parents, employers and other external partners where required.
