Hop on board – we’re just getting started. 🚌✨🐝 Job Summary Locations available: Tameside / Ashton-under-Lyne Hours & Pay : Salary £44, (£22.52 per hour) Shift work 4 over 7 As an integral member of the Metroline Manchester Engineering Team you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and collaborating with other mechanics and engineering specialists across the business. The primary responsibility as a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic is to inspect, diagnose and maintain vehicles to the highest standard to achieve maximum vehicle availability. As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic you are responsible for working in a safe manner as stated in current legislation and ELBG policies and procedures. Main Responsibilities To carry out mechanical, electrical and minor body repairs. To road test on completion of repair. To ensure that the needs of the Operating Department are met and that enough vehicles are available to meet PVR. To ensure that all vehicles provided for operation comply with the standards set by the company. To ensure that all appropriate documentation and records are maintained accurately in order to satisfy the requirements of the Department of Transport Operators licence and company policies and procedures. To work in accordance with safe working practices as stated in Health and Safety policy and procedures. To train / mentor apprentices and new recruits. Job Summary The Zero Emissions Logistics Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the overnight operations associated to the management of zero emissions vehicles to ensure maximum coverage or mileage is achieved in accordance with Metroline’s contractual obligations. To maintain relative operational activities in line with the performance of zero emission vehicles. · Ensure that appropriate health and safety standards are maintained (PPE, signage, contractor inductions) within their area of responsibility and conducts regular risk assessment where/when appropriate. · Work with the night/day staff and cleaning contractors, conducting a series of emergency plans to deal with scenarios such as power failure, equipment failure, electrical fire or any other incident that could affect vehicle availability or charging processes. · Proactively manages/oversees charging times and ensure management of battery life is correctly utilised. · Liaise with all internal and external parties in relation to issues/failures associated to zero emissions vehicles and/or infrastructure. · Work closely with local engineering teams in respect of timely repair/rectifications of issues raised. · Closely monitors cleaning contractors to ensure staff are fully trained to handle and operate charging equipment as well as adhere to charging/parking strategies. · Periodic review of all practices/processes associated to zero emission vehicles and infrastructure. · Data gathering regarding effective charge event management, disruption and charge time requirements. · Notify the Service Control team and support engineering with any issues associated to vehicular state of charge to assist with required reallocation. · Undertake basic tasks under the guidance of the engineering team to prepare the fleet for service (training provided) · To develop and maintain effective communication relationships with garage support staff, service controllers, engineering staff, managers and the relevant external partners, including London Buses. · To ensure that all relevant information relating to zero emission logistics are communicated to colleagues and other relevant parties. · To ensure that Metroline’s company policies and procedures are complied with, especially in areas concerning the health and safety of staff and others as well as zero emission logistics. · The post holder will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner appropriate to the role at all times. An excellent performance and attendance record is essential. Hold a valid PCV driving licence including relevant CPC requirements. · Demonstrable experience of working unsupervised, supporting members of staff and the delivery of service. · First aid and Fire Warden qualified (desirable) · An understanding of geographical routes and depot logistics (desirable) · Skilled in the use of IT systems, including Excel, Word, and E-mail.
