    We are seeking a talented Flood Modeller to join our expanding Flood Risk and Drainage team. This role can be hybrid and based out of our offices in either Leicester, Birmingham, or Nottingham, however Leicester is preferred.This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in hydrology and hydraulic modelling to support a wide range of flood risk, drainage, and infrastructure projects. You will be working on both public and private sector developments, contributing to innovative solutions that help manage flood risk and promote sustainable design.MEC is a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, delivering services for private and public sector projects across residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education, and healthcare. Operating nationally from offices in Birmingham, Brighton, Leicester and Nottingham, we provide expert guidance for a wide range of clients.

    Key responsibilities include:Undertake hydraulic flood modelling to assess flood risk and inform development proposals.Develop and calibrate hydraulic models using software such as HEC-RAS.Provide input into the design of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and mitigation measures.Analyse rainfall, river flow, and hydrological data to inform project outputs.Liaise with clients, local authorities, and regulatory bodies (including the Environment Agency).Prepare clear, concise technical reports and deliverables.Contribute to project proposals and bids as required.Key Skills & Attributes:Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related discipline.Experience in hydraulic modelling (1D/2D) and flood risk management.Proficiency with hydraulic modelling software (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, or similar).Knowledge of hydrology methods (FEH, ReFH, WinFAP).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report writing skills.Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.Desirable:Support the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), Surface Water Management Plans, and Drainage Strategies.Progress towards chartership (CEng, IEng, or CIWEM).Experience with GIS packages (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo).Knowledge of drainage design software; Causeway Flow.Previous consultancy experience in the UK water or infrastructure sector. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a Utilitiy Surveyor to join our Geomatics team.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated surveyor who is keen to progress their career in Geospatial Engineering, working on a diverse range of projects.

    Key role responsibilities:Conduct utility surveys and assist with land surveys in line with client specifications and industry standards.Carry out site data capture, processing, and production of survey drawings, reports, and data files.Ensure quality assurance and rigorous checking procedures on all deliverables.Liaise with clients on-site regarding H&S procedures and project specifications.Proactively report on project progress and assist with project management.Support the training and mentoring of junior team members.Work collaboratively with colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams.Maintain and manage survey equipment, vehicles, and consumables.Ensure compliance with ICES, TSA, and other relevant professional standards.Maintain valid CSCS card and uphold best practices in site/construction safety.
    Key skills, experience and attributes required:Essential: Proven experience in Utility Surveys/ Underground Utility MappingExperience using relevant equipment and software including: Total Stations, GNSS survey-grade equipment, LSS, and AutoCAD.Willingness to travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays.Full, clean UK driving licence (company van provided for work purposes).
    Desirable:Knowledge of Measured Building Surveys, 3D Laser Scanning, REVIT, or Land Surveying.
