Your next role could be a Pyrometry Engineer within the Central Tooling team at Leonardo Helicopters.Reporting to the Calibration Centre Team Lead, you will provide Pyrometric validation, inspection and testing of critical temperature solutions.For the awareness of internal applicants: this is a JFF level 4 position.What you’ll do as a Pyrometry Engineer:Temperature uniformity surveys on ovens, spray booths, autoclaves, platen presses and heated composite tooling.The calibration of temperature recording instrumentation used with ovens, spray booths, autoclaves, platen presses and heated tooling.Configuring and programming control instrumentation to meet process specifications / requirements.The manufacture of heated composite fixtures, tooling and heater mats. Also the manufacture of wire thermocouples.Calibrating temperature and humidity measuring systems and devices.Maintain, troubleshoot and repair instrumentation systems on calibrated plant / tooling.Undertake portable appliance safety checks on mains powered equipment.Compile reports using bespoke software for temperature uniformity surveys and calibrations. Submitting reports to the Materials Laboratory for approval when required.Ensure that calibration results are accurately recorded and records are updated in a timely manner on completion of each task.What you’ll bring: Completion an apprenticeship with an emphasis on electrical disciplines.A working knowledge of computer system applications such as SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel.Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to a tight deadline, which may involve additional hours of work to achieve production deadlines.A high level of interpersonal skills in communicating with internal and external customers at all levels.The ability to work a two shift pattern.This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The team you will be joining form part of a multi discipline engineering team responsible for the Through-Life Services (TLS), which will shape the service and product solution for Tempest, the next-generation combat aircraft.
    TLS consists of everything needed to keep the systems operating effectively throughout life. This project aims to develop a capable, cost effective and sustainable solution, by seeking to influence the early design of the equipment, as well as provide the through-life solution framework. This includes all of the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), solution management, continuous improvement, equipment upgrades, spares, repairs, training, supportability, failure prediction, equipment health status monitoring, support solution architecture, knowledge and information management.Supportability Engineers are involved at all stages of a GCAP/FCAS programme, from Bid, to Development, to Production then Customer Support and eventually disposal. We draw engineers from many different disciplines in addition to Supportability, such as Electronic and Systems Engineering.
