Butler in Kensington
Location: W8, London
Salary: £55,000-£60,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm, with flexibility to stay later when required
A superb opportunity for an experienced, professionally trained Butler to join a distinguished private household in W8. This is a long term role supporting a refined residence with an emphasis on exceptional service, strong organisational capability and the highest levels of discretion. The successful candidate will bring proven private household experience, a calm and polished manner, and the ability to work seamlessly alongside the wider household team. A genuine love of dogs is essential!
Key Responsibilities
Service & Front of House
Daily opening/closing of the property and ensuring full readiness at all times
Reviewing the Principals' schedule each morning to anticipate and prepare for daily requirements
Setting, serving and clearing meals; ensuring standards of presentation remain consistently high
Welcoming and caring for Principals and guests with warmth, professionalism and attention to detail
Maintaining and restocking the coffee machine, drinks cabinet and refreshment areas
Ensuring dining and service spaces remain immaculate throughout the day
Overseeing deliveries, household shopping and stock levels
Providing support for dinners, events and occasional evening commitments
Household Management
Maintaining the butler's pantry, wine cellar and household consumables
Polishing and caring for silver, brass and fine service ware
Replacing flowers when requested by the Principals
Conducting regular checks of kitchen and pantry areas to ensure cleanliness and correct stock rotation
Liaising with the Property Manager on maintenance, contractors and repair schedules
Overseeing the care, cleaning and scheduling of the household car fleet
Wardrobe & Personal Support
Organising and maintaining wardrobes to a high standard; pressing and general clothing care
Cleaning and polishing shoes, coats and accessories and returning all items to their allocated places
Packing and unpacking for travel with care and efficiency
Communicating household requests to relevant staff and coordinating effectively with PAs
Candidate Requirements
Formal Butler training from a recognised institution
Strong, proven experience within a private household
Evidence of longevity and commitment in previous roles
Confident overseeing or coordinating small teams of household staff
Full, clean UK driving licence
Must be confident and comfortable with dogs
Outstanding discretion, communication skills and a commitment to confidentiality
Additional Information
Live-out preferred; live-in (in nearby accommodation) will be considered for the right candidate
Some weekend or evening support may be required with advance notice
