    Job SummaryKL Talent Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a growing organisation for an experienced and driven Regional Transport Manager to oversee transport and fleet operations across the Wrexham region.This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective transport operations while driving operational performance and continuous improvement. The role will require regular travel to additional operational sites to provide leadership oversight and maintain compliance standards across the wider region.The RoleAs Regional Transport Manager, you will take full responsibility for regional fleet and transport activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and high service standards.You will work closely with senior leadership to support business growth, manage operational risk, and lead a high-performing transport team across multiple locations.
    Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage regional transport operations, including fleet, drivers, and routingTravel to additional sites to provide operational support, compliance oversight, and leadershipEnsure full compliance with UK transport legislation and Operator Licence requirementsOversee vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and defect reporting processesManage transport budgets, fuel usage, and cost control initiativesImplement and monitor KPIs, reporting frameworks, and performance metricsConduct driver inductions, training, and performance reviewsMaintain high standards of health & safety across all operationsLiaise with internal stakeholders to support operational growthDrive continuous improvement in efficiency, compliance, and service delivery
    About YouCPC qualified (Transport Manager CPC – National or International)Proven experience in transport/fleet management within a multi-drop operationStrong knowledge of DVSA regulations and Operator Licence complianceExperience managing teams in a fast-paced operational environmentExcellent organisational, communication, and leadership skillsStrong commercial and analytical mindsetProficient in transport management systems and Microsoft Office
    Desirable:ADR knowledge or experience (advantageous)Experience within utilities, energy, or field-based operationsKnowledge of route optimisation softwareExperience implementing fleet sustainability initiatives
    Working HoursBasic Weekly Hours: 40 hoursWorking Pattern: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pmIncludes 1-hour unpaid lunch breakOvertime may be required in line with business needs

    This position plays a key role in supporting the transport planning function ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective routing across a nationwide operation.
    The Role
    As a Traffic Operator you will support the day-to-day operations of our regional transport facilities. This is a hands-on role with a variety of responsibilities designed to keep the regional transport function running smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of all regional transport activities. This includes implementing and enforcing our Health, Safety & Environment policies to ensure a safe working environment for all staff. You will also be responsible for scheduling and overseeing regional fleet maintenance activities to ensure vehicles are fit for purpose and compliant with legal requirements, as well as ensuring that all depot facilities are maintained to a high standard and in line with operational needs.In this role, you will manage daily driver activities, including briefings and de-briefings, to ensure effective communication and performance. You will oversee the administration and implementation of vehicle defect rectification in line with legal standards, as well as providing backup support for transport operations as part of an on-call roster. Ensuring all drivers comply with legal and company requirements will also be part of your role. Additionally, you will assist with planning, scheduling, and administrative functions in the traffic office, acting as a key point of contact between regional drivers and central functions. Lastly, you will be responsible for managing all transport office calls, including vehicle breakdown recovery and driver-related inquiries.
    You’ll bring
    To be successful in this role, you will need the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, both within and outside of the transport function. Strong planning and project management skills are essential, as you will be managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. Excellent time management skills are necessary to work under pressure while maintaining compliance with regulations and company requirements. Proficiency in using IT systems and software for scheduling, communication, and reporting is also required.You should have the ability to engage and motivate a team, ensuring that everyone understands best practices and compliance. You will need the capability to create a harmonious work environment by resolving issues and conflicts at the earliest opportunity. An ability to optimise available resources to address priorities efficiently is key, as is a solid understanding of relevant transport regulations, legal requirements, and compliance standards. Additionally, you will need the ability to analyse operational data and provide management reports to support decision-making.
    Preferred Qualifications and Experience
    A CPC in Transport Management and a Level 3 Supervisory Management qualification (ILM or CMI) are preferred but not essential. Previous experience in a liquid fuel distribution or Multi-drop transport operation is highly desirable.
