    About your new HGV Technician role

    You will carry out maintenance, repairs and modification work on the fleet of vehicles and trailers and provide technical support from fault analysis through to competition.
    You will provide technical work to the highest standards in line with strict health and safety requirements.
    You will also be required to undertake pre MOT checks and undertake any repairs that are required.
    General HGV Technician duties

    The successful HGV Technician will have

    You will have an in-depth knowledge of HGV's and trailers.
    Hold an HGV licence Class 1
    The successful HGV Technician must be a fully skilled with industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three) in heavy vehicle service, maintenance, and repair.

In this role, you will be responsible for the service and repair of a wide variety of vehicles and your work will be varied, primarily responsible for servicing and maintenance of their own fleet and external customer vehicles and trailers.

    Experience required for the HGV Technician:
    • Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician) or proven experience repairing & maintaining vehicles.
    • Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines.

    Duties of the HGV Technician:
    • Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles & trailers to VOSA standard.
    • Diagnosing and rectifying all types of HGV faults.
    • Ensuring all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that the relevant precautions are taken whilst on the premises.
    • Liaising with the parts department to attain correct parts.
    • Ensuring health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to.
    • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness.
    • Carrying out routine maintenance on commercial vehicles.
    • Ensuring appropriate clockings are made and all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner.
    • Maintaining a thorough and current product knowledge.
