With multiple offices across the region, the firm is committed to providing personalised, expert legal advice to meet the diverse needs of its clients. Due to the retirement of the current incumbent, our client is seeking a new Head of Private Client Partner to lead and mentor its private client team, ensuring continued success and growth within the division.Position Overview: The Head of Private Client Partner will be a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the firm’s private client services across multiple offices. This position is not a fee-earning solicitor role but will focus on mentoring, developing, and supporting the team to deliver exceptional client service while achieving business objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to shape the strategic direction of the private client division, ensuring consistency and excellence across the firm’s offices.In addition to strong leadership and technical expertise, the ideal candidate will be well-connected with key private wealth regulatory bodies and organisations, ensuring the firm’s private client team remains at the forefront of legal and regulatory developments in the sector. Membership of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and the Association of Lifetime Lawyers is highly desirable.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Team Development:Lead, mentor, and guide private client solicitors and support staff across the firm’s offices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across the firm’s private client teams, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous professional development.Support the development and career progression of junior lawyers, ensuring they receive the training and guidance necessary for career growth.Operational Excellence & Best Practice:Ensure that best practices in private client law, client care, and service delivery are maintained consistently across all offices.Develop and implement efficient systems, processes, and procedures that enhance client satisfaction, team productivity, and operational efficiency.Collaborate with office managers and practice group leaders to ensure a unified approach to private client work across the firm.Client Relationship Management:Serve as a point of escalation for complex or high-value client matters, offering strategic guidance and support.Ensure the private client team delivers exceptional, personalisd services to clients, maintaining the firm’s reputation for quality and trust.Build and maintain relationships with key clients, ensuring their needs are met, while identifying opportunities for further service delivery.Strategic Planning & Business Development:Work with senior leadership to define the strategic goals for the private client division, ensuring alignment with the firm’s overall business objectives.Identify growth opportunities for the private client team, including developing new services, expanding client relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives.Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions and keep the private client division ahead of industry developments.Quality Control & Compliance:Ensure that all private client work complies with relevant regulations and ethical standards, safeguarding the firm’s reputation and client trust.Oversee the implementation of quality control measures to ensure high standards of client care, legal compliance, and service delivery across the team.Collaboration & Cross-Departmental Working:Work closely with other departments within the firm (e.g., corporate, litigation, tax, property) to deliver integrated, client-focused services.Serve as a liaison between private client teams in different offices, ensuring consistency in service delivery and a unified team culture.Regulatory & Industry Engagement:Build and maintain strong relationships with key regulatory bodies, industry organisations, and other relevant stakeholders in the private wealth sector.Stay informed on changes to regulations, compliance requirements, and emerging trends in private wealth management, ensuring the firm’s private client team is always in line with the latest industry standards.Qualifications & Skills:Experience:At least 15 years of experience in private client law, with a focus on providing legal services to high-net-worth individuals and families.UK qualified solicitor in Private Client / Private Wealth.Previous leadership experience, ideally in a non-fee-earning or mentoring capacity, with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.In-depth knowledge of private client law, including wills, trusts, probate, estate planning, and tax.Education:Qualified solicitor, chartered legal executive, or a relevant professional qualification.Ongoing professional development through relevant courses and training is desirable.Skills:Strong leadership, management, and mentoring skills, with a focus on guiding and developing talent.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and implement plans that support both client needs and business growth.Strong understanding of legal risk management, compliance, and regulatory requirements in the private client
