Our Defence and Security teams provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
The Hinkley Point C Equipment Programme is responsible for delivering the bulk of the mechanical, electrical and process equipment that will form the working power station. The contracts may be for discrete components or complete systems and will be delivered in partnership with NNB's global supply chain. Contracts range from £250k to £150m. Input design is completed by the EDF Responsible Designer, with the detail design completed by the equipment supplier.

Ensure level 3 schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall Project schedules.Where applicable ensure that Qualification for Nuclear Safety activities are completed to validate the performance criteria of the equipment.
Track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling, programming and risk tools.Experience of managing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment.Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, physics or other related field.Knowledge and / or practitioner of Project Management with experience of applying either; APM body of knowledge and OGC's Prince 2.

We have a leading role in waste strategy, inventory and compliance underpinning the future management of radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuels and nuclear materials. We also support clients with Site End-State decision making and underpinning environmental activities. In the UK, we deliver a diverse range of projects for waste producers, waste management organisations and strategic authorities across all aspects of the waste lifecycle. We are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including projects for clients in Norway, Central & Eastern Europe and Japan.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated candidate as a Principal Nuclear Environmental Consultant to play a key role in continuing the growth of our business. You will join a friendly, highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary group The candidate will be expected to lead the technical direction of work areas providing environmental support to existing site operators and new build clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Your main responsibility will be to apply your knowledge, experience and expertise to the environmental aspects that need to be considered in site operations, radioactive waste management and nuclear decommissioning challenges. You will lead (or support) a range of consultancy projects and tasks for clients based in the UK and overseas, including:
Environmental underpinning activities to satisfy regulatory compliance (e.g. environmental permitting, GRR, environmental management systems).Developing documentation for new build GDA Environmental Submissions (demonstrating how environmental regulations and Radioactive Substances Regulation are addressed).Contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments and/or consideration of conventional impacts from waste management activities.Undertaking sustainability assessments. Support to site-end state development and land quality projects, including data gathering/analysis; options assessments; technical justification.Lead the delivery of high-quality competitive proposals to our clients and build client relationships.Support wider business development activities and provide input on the strategic direction of the team.Support the development of our team through training, knowledge dissemination and mentoring.
Here's What You'll Need:
Degree qualification (or equivalent training and experience) in appropriate environmental, physical science or engineering discipline.Significant experience in a comparable role (individual candidates need experience of some of the technical topic areas described above, not necessarily all).Good working knowledge of relevant regulations for nuclear site permitting and operations.Experience of bid leadership and proposal preparation.Ability to manage time and priorities while working on several varied projects.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including tailoring outputs to the requirements of different stakeholders.Good people skills - able to clearly explain concepts to aid training and development of colleagues; facilitate workshops and manage stakeholder engagement activities.
