Reporting directly to the CISO, you will own the technical security roadmap for our pioneering digital biology platform.This role demands a rare blend of deep technical mastery, sharp business acumen, and people leadership. You will work alongside Data Curators, Engineers, AI experts, and Drug Discovery scientists to drive the analytics that underpin our drug design engine.As a Data Scientist focused on platform analytics, you will be responsible for capturing and analysing data to understand how our technology and drug design processes are performing. You will provide the robust data science expertise needed to turn business intelligence into actionable insights, helping Product, Data, Engineering, Research, and Drug Discovery teams make the best possible decisions to accelerate the delivery of new medicines.What you will do Conduct internal and external benchmarking on Machine Learning model performance and drug discovery processes.Collaborate with engineering to build an analytics layer that supports generalizable drug design and helps determine the impact of our models on success rates.Analyse business intelligence data to provide robust and insightful outputs that drive decision-making across product, engineering, and research teams.Partner with the Engineering, Product, and drug discovery teams to implement telemetry and traceability, ensuring we capture drug design intent and metadata effectively.Design and track key metrics (KPIs) to evaluate if we are building the most efficient drug design engine and progressing towards our long-term goals.Identify bottlenecks in the end-to-end delivery system to optimize real-world delivery.Skills and qualifications Essential:Proven experience in a data science or platform analytics role ideally in a drug discovery company.Strong coding skills in Python and SQL including experience using data science toolkits such as NumPy, SciPy, or Pandas.Strong background in statistics and data analysis.Experience defining and measuring metrics for engineering or product performance (e.g., efficiency, bottlenecks, KPIs).Ability to communicate complex data insights to a diverse range of stakeholders, including engineers and scientists. Nice to have:Familiarity with data engineering concepts and experience with running jobs on Cloud-based infrastructure.Familiarity with the early drug discovery process.Culture and valuesWe are guided by our shared values. Optimise workflows, challenge traditional medicinal chemistry dogmas, and champion our culture of inclusion and continuous professional development.Skills and qualifications Essential:PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or a related technical field, or equivalent industrial experience.Solid foundation in medicinal chemistry with a minimum of 10+ years previous industrial experience within a pharma/biotech/CRO setting. Proven track record of leading medicinal chemistry efforts on drug discovery projects, demonstrating significant contributions to project progression (ideally from Hit Identification through to Lead Optimisation/Candidate Nomination, with familiarity of optimisation of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK).A genuine passion for drug discovery and a visible desire to move away from "business as usual," coupled with enthusiasm for the potential of AI/ML to transform the field.Demonstrated experience in line management, mentorship, and developing scientific talent.Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities applied to complex drug discovery challenges.Experience of working with and closely managing CRO resource. Strong track record of scientific achievement, evidenced by publications, patents, and presentations.Nice to have:Experience of successful application of fragment-based drug design approaches. Experience of structure-based drug designProven track record of leading large teams and managing through other managers.Culture and valuesWe are guided by our shared values.
