You will manage trailer movements, monitor Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) performance, produce operational reports, and provide timely information to support decision-making.The role involves working closely with Senior Management, Shift Managers, Traffic teams, engineers, and security, while also coaching and supporting team members. Strong analytical skills, IT literacy, and knowledge of WMS, MHE, SCADA, C3 Yard Management, and Beumer BeSS systems are essential (training provided).

    What you’ll be doing:Managing the receipt and movement of all inbound and outbound trailers, ensuring details are captured accurately and yard operations remain fluid.Coordinating the movement of full and empty trailers on and off bays to maximise trailer and bay utilisation and achieve production and service KPIs.Monitoring Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) performance, promptly addressing faults or delays, and escalating issues where necessary to minimise downtime.Producing hourly reports and other management information to track site throughput and operational performance.Ensuring yard congestion is minimised and potential impacts on the community or business reputation are avoided.Training, coaching, and supporting new team members, as well as providing guidance to colleagues with less experience in specific areas.Coordinating resources to ensure adequate cover for all planned and unplanned operational hours.Liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues efficiently.Applying judgement within defined processes and procedures to prioritise tasks and resolve day-to-day issues effectively.Reviewing and sense-checking periodic system updates to ensure operational accuracy and consistency.

    What we need from you:Strong analytical and numeracy skills with the ability to interpret data and monitor performance.Good IT skills and experience using packages such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.Some knowledge of site WMS and MHE systems, with an understanding of contingency plans for equipment breakdowns (full training provided, 6–9 months to competency).Knowledge of SCADA (Systems Control and Data Acquisition) systems, C3 Yard Management systems, and Beumer BeSS systems.Detailed understanding of operational processes and the ability to apply them effectively.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently at all levels.Ability to prioritise tasks, exercise judgement, and work independently within defined processes.Flexibility to manage both planned and unplanned operational requirements.Right to work in the UK.
