    Transport Clerk (Night Shift) Location Milton Keynes Hours Monday to Friday - 10:00pm – 6:00am This is a night shift position. Due to the nature of the operation, a degree of flexibility with working hours may be required to meet business needs. Salary £30k About the Role We are recruiting for an experienced Transport Clerk to join a busy and fast-paced transport office supporting a large distribution operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid understanding of the transport industry who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where accuracy, organisation, and communication are key. Working closely with drivers, the transport team, and warehouse colleagues, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the transport operation throughout the night. Key Responsibilities Supporting the day-to-day administration of a busy transport office. Liaising with drivers to ensure all routes are dispatched efficiently. Monitoring driver hours and ensuring compliance with Working Time Directive and Drivers’ Hours Regulations. Checking and managing tachograph records and identifying any compliance issues. Completing transport documentation accurately and maintaining records. Updating transport management systems with relevant information. Communicating with internal departments to ensure deliveries run smoothly. Assisting with route planning and resolving any operational issues that arise during the shift. Ensuring all transport activities are carried out in line with company procedures and legal requirements. What We’re Looking For The successful candidate will have: Previous experience working within a transport or logistics environment. A good understanding of legislation, including Drivers’ Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive. Experience working with digital tachographs and transport compliance. Strong administrative and organisational skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and transport management systems (preferred). A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service levels and team performance. Skills Experience Previous experience within a transport, logistics or distribution environment. Strong knowledge of UK Transport Legislation, the Working Time Directive, Drivers' Hours Regulations and Tachograph legislation. Proven experience managing and developing successful operational teams. Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks and implement practical solutions quickly. Good understanding of Health Safety legislation and operational compliance. Confident communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships across the business.
