Hutchinson Technical Services, based in Sutton Weaver, Cheshire, is a specialist in ISO tank and chemical transport tanker maintenance and repair. We work with T1-T50 ISO tanks and a wide range of ADR tankers, delivering high-quality repair, inspection, and testing services for clients across the UK.
The Role
We're looking for a Workshop Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our busy technical workshop. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, hands-on mechanical experience, and a background in ISO tanks, ADR, or HGV repair environments.
Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
Allocate and prioritise jobs to technicians based on skills and deadlines.
Support and mentor workshop staff, maintaining a positive and productive team environment.
Carry out quality checks on repair and inspection work.
Liaise with the office team and customers regarding job progress, estimates, and turnaround times.
Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental standards.
Assist with hands-on technical work when required.
Maintain accurate job records and workshop documentation.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a supervisory or senior technician role.
Strong mechanical background, ideally within ISO tanks, chemical transport, or HGV maintenance.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Knowledge of ADR, PED, and pressure vessel regulations (advantageous).
Ability to lead by example and motivate a small, skilled team.
A proactive, safety-focused approach.
Desirable:
Welding or fabrication background.
Experience with tank testing, valve overhauls, or certification processes.
Engineering or mechanical qualifications (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
