    Job Description

    Salary:  £31,500.00 per year. Working 5 days over 7, 52 weeks per year. 40 working hours per week (plus 1 hour unpaid breaks per day)Key Responsibilities:Supervise day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring smooth service across both service areasLead and motivate staff to maintain high service standards and client and manager satisfactionHandle manager queries, concerns, and feedback with professionalism and discretionEnsure the department maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environmentSupport the management team in implementing policies and enhancing service offeringsOversee events and private functions as requiredServing Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner to our wonderful students, staff and guests 7 days a week and looking after all the other needs that arise across the campus. This is where we require a Store Porter/Driver to fulfil the duties and meet the needs of our clients by delivering exceptional service.  The best part is that approximately every 3rd weekend we have completely off, so planning social events throughout the year is great. Weekends are also a little quieter than during the week , but we have amazing Saturday sports days.If you think the above-mentioned was good, the next point will definitely get you hooked, we are closed over the Christmas and New Year period, just more time with family and friends.Another selling point is free meals while on duty, full uniform is provided. and if you feel active, access to the onsite gym at a very reduced cost, that will be as little as only £5 per month after successfully completing your probation period!Also, Free car parking, 28 Days holiday inclusive of Bank Holidays (we have every long weekend off).Pension scheme and career development opportunities.In return we only ask you to be flexible in your working approach as it will be a 5 out 7 day position, 40 working hours per week. Having a full driving licence and use of your own vehicle will be advantageous to being successful in being employed as the public transport links timings for the role are not aligned.   

    Qualifications

    Previous experience supervising a team, be it back of house or front of house.Professional and friendly disposition.Flexible and can do approach to work.Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Supervising a small team of Kitchen Porters to ensure high standards are met at all times.Supporting daily catering operations by upholding all company and legal food hygiene and health & safety practices.Ensuring all kitchen and back-of-house areas are cleaned in line with company specifications and documented within our sign offs.The ideal candidate will have:Previous experience in a similar supervisory or kitchen porter roleA good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practicesProven organisational and good communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectivelyYou must:Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude at all timesBe committed to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standardsBe able to work flexibly to meet the business needs and always have a can do approach

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:· To ensure food production, standards, costs & menu planning are carried out in a timely fashion, as agreed with the Catering Manager.· To carry out the smooth and efficient running of the section as appropriate.· To assist the Catering Manager with compiling food orders and developing new food concepts.· To plan, prepare, cook and present food to the standards required by the company and the client.· To ensure that the company’s reputation for excellent food and service is enhanced with the client and customers.CLIENT SERVICE:· To ensure that customers are given a prompt and efficient service and expectations are consistently exceeded.· To be customer focused at all times; approachable and quick to exceed expectations in fulfilling customer needs.· To ensure all food is cooked, presented and served in line with company standards, using innovation in the method and style of presentation and food service.PEOPLE:· To assess kitchen team performance and recognise training needs and potential as appropriate.· To assist in the development of the kitchen team by empowering it, supporting it, encouraging it and maintaining an ‘open door’ policy.· To motivate and lead by example, ensuring you and your team have fun at work and are proud of your efforts.· To treat your team at location as you would expect to be treated.FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:· To ensure all financial controls, costings, wastage and orders are met within the client budget.· To ensure purchasing is made using nominated suppliers and a system for quality and credit controls is maintained.HEALTH & SAFETY, FOOD SAFETY, THE ENVIRONMENT:· To ensure that the kitchen meets statutory and company requirements of Health and Safety, Food Safety and environmental legislation and procedures.· To ensure all equipment is well maintained and is in good working order.· To ensure safe working practices are followed and equipment faults are reported to the Head Chef.· To ensure that all company procedures and work instructions are fully understood and practised by all employees.· To promote and encourage environmental improvement initiatives as appropriate within the business.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:· To ensure compliance with the company’s policy on safer recruitment and safeguarding children and young adults at all times whilst at work.· To take responsibility for contributing towards your own development with the guidance of the Head Chef and attending training courses as identified.· To show commitment to company values in all aspects of your role.· To act as a positive ambassador for the business.· To attend to any reasonable request made by the client or Holroyd Howe Management.· To assist / deputise for the Catering Manager
