We're now looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our award-winning team as a Commis Chef at Hawthorns Northampton Care Home. ABOUT THE ROLEAs a Commis Chef, your primary role will be to assist the Chef de Partie in preparing food and performing basic cooking tasks. You will work in different areas of the kitchen, such as vegetables, fish and meat, and sauces, usually on a six-month rotation programme.Other responsibilities will include: Supporting all chefs to manage and deliver all catering services throughout the home, ensuring resident choice, dignity, confidentiality, and safety are maintained.Participating in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss and agree on catering functions across the home and address residents' special needs or dietary requirements. This must include knowledge of cultural and religious preferences.Preparing nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Chefs, promptly and in accordance with agreed mealtimes.Preparing special diet meals as needed and as directed by the Chefs.
    ABOUT YOU To be successful in your application, you will live our values of caring, supportive, honest, respectful, and accountable in all that you do. Our ideal candidate must:Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.Have a minimum of 1-year catering experience.Demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality culinary services to residents.Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

    ABOUT THE ROLE As Wellbeing and Activities Assistant, your focus will be to support the Wellbeing Coordinator in providing a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the resident's physical, cognitive, and social well-being. Other responsibilities will include: Maintaining a safe living and working environment, contributing to the positive and professional image of the home. Reporting any changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to the Wellbeing and Activity Coordinator, Home Manager, and the care staff. Supporting with ordering and preparing supplies for upcoming activities as directed. Supporting establishing links with the local community (e.g., schools, spiritual groups, museums/libraries) to encourage access to the wider community and promote intergenerational activity.

Our ideal candidate must: Have effective communication skills, verbal and written. Demonstrate understanding of the role interaction plays in the general well-being of people. Have a positive attitude toward older people and a commitment to providing stimulating, quality activities and social events.
