    We're looking for a motivated and customer-focused Customer Sales Supervisor (Ticket Office Supervisor) to join our team at Bristol Temple Meads—one of GWR's flagship stations. You'll also support the wider Bristol Suburban area, including the staffed office at Yatton Station. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll work alongside two other supervisors to lead, coach, and support the Customer Sales team. You'll ensure customers receive accurate ticketing advice and a great travel experience across the network. Key responsibilities? Leading the sales team to deliver high-quality customer service Managing ticket office operations, self-service machines, and admin tasks Handling ticket refunds, cash reconciliation, and using retail/rostering systems Maintaining compliance with all accountancy and documentation processes What you'll need? Supervisory and cash handling experience Strong communication and IT skills (including GWR retail systems) Attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude ⏰ Working Pattern: This role includes shift work (earliest start 06:00, latest finish 21:45), covering weekends and bank holidays. The ticket office operates 7 days a week and as part of the CSS team, Sunday working is part of the roster and is structured as 1 in 3.  What to Expect? About the team  You will be working as part of our 5 person announcer team in our purpose built Reading Control Room, providing information to all parts of the station.  You will have to thrive under pressure and be able to deal with competing demands, liaising with other parts of our business to ensure we operate an efficient Railway service. About the job The purpose of the role is to be a focal point for the dissemination of time critical train running information.  In addition you will be required to announce train services at the station, advising customers of any delays or service information.  You will also have to coordinate resources to ensure that those customers requiring assistance are dealt with in a professional and timely manner.  The role will also involve the ability to dispatch trains. Your main responsibilities will be:  Work with the station team to minimise delays to trains Monitoring the train service at the station Identifying planned and potential alterations to the service. Operating the Station Information Screens ensuring the customer information is up to date and accurate Ensuring effective dissemination of time critical information. Announcing train service details and security information. Dispatching trains on an adhoc basis. Monitoring CCTV. You'll need to be: Well organised. Customer focussed Able to work in a fast paced, pressurised environment making time critical decisions Able to remain calm under pressure Proactive and able to work alone Responsible and Reliable As a minimum you will need to have: The ability to work well within a team Experience making time critical decisions. Articulate and able to communicate at all levels Strong interpersonal skills About the location  Reading is a transport hub with many local bus routes and train services operating.  Facilities at the station including a number of retail outlets as well as mess facilities.  There may be occasional travel to attend courses but the role is predominately based at Reading. Working pattern  The working pattern is shift work rotating through a roster pattern of early (0600-1400), late (1400-2200) and night shifts (2145-0615), as well as weekend and bank holiday working. About the team  This position is working at a single person location across multiple stations.  This will be to provide cover when these offices are not staffed.  Working within the sales office you will often be the first person that our customers have contact with, having a responsibility to provide a warm welcome, make people feel secure and help customers on their journeys. About the job:  Working on your own as a Customer Sales Advisor, you will confidently and impartially sell the full range of tickets and services, including processing high volumes of sales, and ensure that customer requirements are met and exceeded.  You will be responsible for the day to day upkeep of the station raising faults as appropriate.  You will also carry out a daily security check, providing mobility impaired passenger with assistance onto and off trains and during the winter months you will be expected to keep the station clear of Ice and snow and to administer ice melt products to keep the area safe for the customers. Your main responsibilities will be:  Providing the highest level of customer service and being proactive to customer needs Accurately and impartially selling the full range of products and services to our customers in a friendly, professional and efficient manner Maximising opportunities for increased sales at ticket offices by adopting selling techniques and offering enhanced products to customers Carrying out routine maintenance and cleaning of ticket machines and IT equipment Accurately completing all accountancy and other associated documentation. Maintaining TVMs at the station Applying winter weather precautions as required. Reporting faults at the station and ensuring these are rectified You'll need to be: Comfortable working on your own. Able to deliver exceptional front-line customer service Understand customer requirements and expectations A Self-starter with a can-do attitude Confident when decision making Able to remain calm yet directive in a crisis Able to work to strict procedures As a minimum you will need to have: The ability to work independently. Good manual handling skills Evidence of numerical ability Attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication skills Customer Service Experience A full driver's licence with access to a vehicle About the location  You will be working as cover support for ticket offices at North Camp, Crowthorne, Reading West Mortimer and Bramley.  Where this is not required you will work out of Reading Sales office. Working pattern  The role will average 35hour working week including weekend working.  You would need to be able to be at each of the above locations from around 0600.  In recognition of these variable locations you will be paid an enhanced allowance. Additional information  You will be required to have your own transport as you will be required to drive to these ticket offices to ensure they open on time.
