At our Filton site in Bristol, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.  We are seeking a new Team Administrator to provide administrative support to the Maintenance Operations Manager for the IMF (integrated machining facility) and Wing Systems & Assembly maintenance teams. This is a busy and varied role perfect for someone with excellent administration and organisational skills who enjoys juggling multiple responsibilities. Joining a committed and friendly team, you will be taking the lead of the management of direct purchased items and also encompassing general administrative work such as typing, taking minutes, helping to prepare presentations, customer/visitor facilitation, organising meetings and workshops, maintaining filing systems, travel & training course bookings.

    This is a full-time, on-site & permanent position offering semi-flexible working with the option to finish at 12:30pm on a Friday.How You'll Contribute In this role, you will: • Manage the request of quotation, raising payment order’s, monitoring the approval process, confirming deliveries, and completing the orders. This will require communicating to and developing relationships with lots of outside contractors and service providers • Working with our onsite stores management contractor to conduct stock audit checks of our stores ensuring our CMMS system is aligned • Provide general administrative work for managers, typing, report typing, minutes, presentations, customer/visitor facilitation, circulating information to relevant team members as required, organising meetings and workshops/ facilitation of conference room booking, maintain filing systems, travel booking, order of stationery in Buyside, preparation for management meetings (tier boards), awareness of holiday bookings/management • Maintain the smooth running of the office at all times especially during the manager’s absence  • Support general administrative assistance to team members • Process expenses for the managers, plus other members of the team and maintain expenses records, in addition, assist other team members with expenses as and when required • Monitor general absence i.e. sickness and clocking’s ensuring the holiday planners are kept up to date • Liaise with HR and appropriate managers for subcontract recruitment  • Be responsible for the communication KPIs and the updating of the KPI boards (Tier boards) • Be responsible for administration of the skills matrix, liaising with managers as appropriate

What You'll Bring Experience in managing (new) Product / Process introduction (industrialization) & existing production process improvements.  4+ years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in aerospace, metal processing, hydraulics, etc.  Degree in a related Engineering discipline, such as Aerospace, Mechanical, Automotive.  Ability to influence people, build trust and establish effective working relationship within a global organization.  Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices.  Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000. Quality driven and strong documentation / reporting skills. Working knowledge of machining processes (milling, mill-turn, boring, honing) and of surface treatment processes (heat treatment, plating, shot-peen, NDI) would be an advantage.     We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a background in Electrical/Mechanical Systems Engineering to help shape the future of flight. Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead the successful candidate will develop, integrate, implement, and verify technical solutions and compliance documentation; compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed programme, schedule, and manufacturing constraints. 
    This is a very exciting and potentially career defining opportunity. You will be a leading member of the team embarking on a significant and challenging technology development project. This four year project will be a major steppingstone towards achieving the next generation of avionics for customer Tilt-Rotors. 
    The project will operate from our GKN facilities in Cowes, Isle of Wight. Alternatively, this role can be based at our Global Technology Centre in Bristol or at our manufacturing facility in Luton, with visits to Cowes, Isle of Wight as required by the business.  There is the requirement to be flexible with International travel within Europe and to U.S. (approximately every two months). We offer hybrid working, the opportunity to work from home up to two days per week dependent on the needs of the business.

    Specific Technical Experience
    • HNC, degree OR equivalent experience in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering
    • Demonstrable experience as a Lead Engineer delivering designs for electro-mechanical, sensing OR controller systems within an engineering environment
    • Proven design and delivery of high quality and reliable systems in a complex regulatory environment (e.g. MIL-STD, TUV cert, etc…)
    • Proven track record (minimum 1 project), in compliance planning and verification & validation analysis for product release
    • Advanced experience of the Systems Development Lifecycle process
    • Intermediate experience of requirement decomposition and tools (e.g. DOORS)
    • Intermediate experience defining system / modular architecture
    • Advanced experience developing system control functions & logic models
    • Ability to design and set-up experiments and fixtures for testing
    • Confident interrogating CAD models and drawings (such CATIA V5)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.

You are based in Papendrecht (NL) and are part of team of 10 specialists, reporting to the Team Lead.  Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards. Coordination/project lead for REACh activities: identification of arising issues regarding the REACh legislation, providing support and advice locally and to other GKN sites concerning the impact of REACh. Developing, optimizing and maintaining specifications and handbooks related to surface process technologies and materials for corrosion protection and pre-treatments for structural bonding of metals; ensuring they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements. Preparing and defining tests/testplans; critical and systematic interpretation and analysis of test data, applying the outcome of tests for substantiation of specification changes. Defining activities in a project-oriented fashion with identification of deliverables, milestones and associated planning. Troubleshooting and production support on chemical processes (e.g. anodizing, chemical conversion coating, chemical milling, cleaning and pickling of metals). Handling NC’s related to the expertise area. Interfacing with customers on a technical (M&P) level. Maintaining contacts with suppliers regarding alternative/new products. Job Qualifications Chemistry / materials science / aerospace engineering education, BSc / MSc level Knowledge of / experience in industrial chemical (surface) treatments of metallic substrates related to corrosion protection and bonding;familiarity with REACh environmental legislation Minimum of 5 years (10 years preferred) of relevant experience within an industrial engineering discipline, preferably within an aerospace environment Experience with quality systems, specifications, standards, etc., with the ability to oversee the broader field Excellent reporting and project management skills; Good command of the English language, both verbally and in writing, Dutch language is an advantage Team player at all levels in the company, pro-active attitude, but also capable of acting on an individual basis and reporting back to the relevant parties within GKN.     The project will operate from our GKN facilities in Cowes, Isle of Wight. Alternatively, this role can be based at our Global Technology Centre in Bristol or at our manufacturing facility in Luton, with visits to Cowes, Isle of Wight as required by the business.  There is the requirement to be flexible with International travel within Europe and to U.S. (approximately every two months).     Specific Technical Experience
    • HNC, degree OR equivalent experience in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering

    • Proven design and delivery of high quality and reliable systems in a complex regulatory environment (e.g. MIL-STD, TUV cert, etc…)
    • Proven track record (minimum 1 project), in compliance planning and verification & validation analysis for product release
    • Advanced experience of the Systems Development Lifecycle process
    • Intermediate experience of requirement decomposition and tools (e.g. DOORS)
    • Intermediate experience defining system / modular architecture
    • Advanced experience developing system control functions & logic models
    • Ability to design and set-up experiments and fixtures for testing
    • Confident interrogating CAD models and drawings (such CATIA V5)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
