With an established track record of delivering a wide variety of projects on both local and national scales, we work with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other professionals throughout the project life cycle, providing services from concept design through to detailed design and construction. We also support other GHD business lines where their projects have a transport interface.  We seek enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have 8+ years’ experience and are engaged in or ready to work toward professional qualification. Successful candidates will have a good technical background in public realm and transport design, together with excellent written and oral communication skills which we would continue to develop. You will be supported by our senior employees and management team to help strengthen your skills, experience and continuing professional development.  Responsibilities As a key role in the Place & Movement team, your activities will include: Managing projects and project teams in the delivery of urban highway, transport and public realm schemes. Leading the resolution of complex technical issues on multi-disciplinary urban highway, transport and public realm schemes. Leading the development of high quality designs and drawings from concept stage through to detailed design in line with company and client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice. This is to cover the full suite of drawings at each stage of design  Leading collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design  Managing client and stakeholder relationships as part of project delivery and providing professional advice to internal and external clients as required Providing leadership and act as a mentor to junior members of staff Leading the preparation of bids for new commissions and supporting on business development activities Attending sites when required to carry out, manage or assist with surveys, liaise with clients/contractors and monitor works as required Ensuring tasks are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets Keeping up to date with the latest relevant design methods and standards Ensuring that due attention is paid to all aspects of Quality Assurance in accordance with company procedures. These are in addition to working towards professional qualifications and undertaking training. Requirements for the Role One or more of the following qualifications would be considered: Bachelor’s degree: Engineering is preferred, but other relevant subjects will be considered Advanced degree or MBA is a plus Essential Criteria Excellent practical and technical knowledge in, but not limited to:  Public realm design Cycle design Bus schemes Junction design  Drainage design  Section 278 works  Safety schemes Parking schemes Utility diversions Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Excellent understanding of standards, including TfL standards, for the design of public realm schemes including, road markings, road signs, parking, cycle design, etc. Experience in creating Bills of Quantities. Good knowledge of highway engineering construction methods, materials and specifications. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and associated software packages like Civils 3D, road sign design and road markings design. Excellent IT skills and use of Microsoft Office suite of packages. Proven track record of winning work Demonstrable capability to build and maintain client relationships Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills A positive and enthusiastic team player Goal-oriented and ambition to develop and strive to provide good service Confidence to work effectively in a high-energy, fast-moving environment Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a busy and demanding environment. Let’s solve the big problems together and leave the world better than we found it. Graduate Development at GHD  GHD’s Graduate Program is aimed at developing our future technical specialists. During our two-year global graduate development programme our Graduate Geoscientist will work with our Energy Transition Advisory team developing skills across a wide variety of projects associated with the Energy Transition, from conventional (Oil and Gas) to low carbon energy sources (Geothermal, Hydrogen) and Carbon Capture and Storage. Due to the diversity of GHD, should suitable projects arise, there is also the opportunity to work in the Water, Renewable Energy, Industrial, Property and Buildings sectors both in the UK and overseas. Your contribution will make a positive lasting benefit to the environment and communities. Whilst learning about our business, our values, your team, and most importantly, yourself you will develop your decision-making, communication, technical and leadership skills.  We offer mentoring and a variety of development activities, providing on the job experience and exposure to a diverse range of projects. Once eligible, we will also support you towards gaining Chartered Geologist (or equivalent) status. Graduate Geoscientist Responsibilities Data Collection and Analysis: Collate, analyse and load subsurface data, gaining an understanding of basic geological data requirements and data limitations prior to interpretation.  Data Interpretation: Review geological, geophysical, petrophysical data and undertake basic analysis. This includes seismic surveys, core data, well logs. Liaise with other departmental disciplines to reach a geologically appropriate model that best fits all the available data. Geological Modelling: Learning how to build, update and evaluate theoretical and geocellular 2D/3D geological models. Estimate deterministic and probabilistic in-place volumes using appropriate industry standard software. Consulting Project Content Development: Develop, collaborate and contribute materials to client deliverables, for example slide decks for standardized presentations and client reports. Client Engagement: Assist with client engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events, and supporting materials to promote positive client experiences. Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation and, where relevant, improve performance and fulfill your personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending industry conferences, and reviewing specialist media. Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems Health, Safety and Environment: Learn appropriate HSE behaviours and comply with GHD safety standards at all times. Requirements Master’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics or Geoscience related discipline.  0-2 years of professional experience related to the role. Able to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week (London or Guildford).
