    A local government client of mine are on the lookout for a Head of Finance (Deputy S151 Officer) to join their team on an interim basis.

    Contract Duration: Until end of July 2026. Rate: DOE Days: X5 days (could also consider X4 days p/w) Hybrid: X2-3 days in office per week. Start Date: December/January

    Key Requirements: 1) Doing the revenue budget + capital programme, series of cabinet workshops, Q3 monitoring although the Chief Accountant pulls a lot of this. 2) Working towards year end, guide the Chief Accountant through this. The Chief Accountant will be doing the more technical stuff, may need to pull the statements together from an overview perspective. 3) Help through audit, audit liaison, audit committees, attending the odd scrutiny, maybe cabinet meetings although the S151 will attend these.

    Successful candidates: Must have specific prior minimum Deputy S151 Officer level experience. Looking for someone who is happy working as a Deputy and by the councils way of doing things. Someone who is a personable character and will gel nicely with the team.
