Job description
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK
For the SZC project, we are currently looking to recruit for the role of Nuclear Safety Manager.
The SZC Project Technical Directorate (TD) role is to maintain and exert the technical authority of the project. To demonstrate full control of the SZC Nuclear Island (NI) technical integration, the TD set up the replication strategy on the NI scope, ensure the technical integration of the contributions from all disciplines, coordinate the project delegates within technical department, implement and deliver the overall engineering process.
Within TD, the Nuclear Safety Team are responsible for the overall coordination of activities relating to the following technical topic areas: Safety Functional Requirements, Hazards, Fault Studies, Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA), Human Factors, Security, Structural Integrity, Environment, Decommissioning, Fire and Radiation Protection.
Within Safety Team, we are looking to recruit a Nuclear Safety Manager who will be responsible for the overall coordination of activities for the Team and overarching delivery of Safety activities for the SZC Project.
The key duties and responsibilities of the Nuclear Safety Manager are as follows:
Ensure the operational management of the Safety Team to secure delivery of Safety activities against the contract with the Client, on time and right first time,Secure the replication of the Safety studies from HPC to SZC,Ensure that the safety activities schedule is consistent with the project needs and resources required are appropriately staffed,Ensure that possible design changes are suitably analysed and technical issues identified and resolved by the relevant safety technical expertise,Manage the interfaces with stakeholders across the Responsible Designer and Client organisations, in particular to secure the replication justification activities,Oversight the formal review of technical deliverables produced by the Safety team and approve them,Report on Safety Team progress across multiple Project forums and accounting for any gaps in hours/costs for Safety as required.
Profile
To be considered, the following qualifications, skills and experience are essential:
Degree qualified Engineer (in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline),Strong knowledge of Nuclear Safety generally and EPR or PWR designs in specialFundamental experience in a relevant position such (preferably from a highly regulated industry),The ability to take a strategic view with good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels,Motivated and disciplined with an ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work across multiple workstreams,Able to review technical documents which present complex arguments clearlyTake a proactive approach to management and resolution of technical topics,Strong organisational and communication skills, able to liaise between multiple stakeholders and maintain a clear overview for specific topics,Leadership skills,Fluent EnglishKnowledge of specific technical topics in the Safety scope (as described above) - DesirableFrench communication would be a bonus.

Job description
Framatome is implementing a new factory for the assembly of fuels for the operation of nuclear power plants in the United Kingdom. This plant will be built in phases to meet short, medium and long-term objectives.
The investment project is led by Framatome and must be innovative to meet the challenges of the company and the United Kingdom.
Your mission is to support a safety and licensing manager in the management of nuclear safety on the project. We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Safety Case Senior Engineer to develop and maintain the production of safety cases for our nuclear fuels manufacturing project in the U.K. This role is crucial to the success of our project and ensuring high levels of regulatory compliance and maintaining the highest standards of nuclear safety.
The majority of the project activities will take place in UK where the site is located and with limited travels to France or Germany.
Accountabilities
Development of a company (project) safety case methodology that is proportionate to the hazards associated with the project, but suitable and sufficient to ensure safety.Production and maintenance of safety case documentation, either prepared by themselves or prepared by others / contractors / consultants according to the Company / project safety case methodology, ensuring it meets regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
Develop the overall safety case assessment process (in the form of license condition arrangements, handbook etc.) and detailed planning schedule, identifying the requisite safety assessments, governance process and timing. Author the technical specification for preparing the Preliminary Safety Report (PSR) and Pre-Construction Safety Report (PCSR).Author specifications for undertaking specific safety assessments supporting the PSR and PCSR.Coordinate with technical specialists, engineers, and operations teams across the wider business to gather input data for safety assessments.Ensure identification of relevant safety features, devices, systems and circuits (SFDSC) that are important to nuclear safety and providing advice to the Company / project on the treatment and implementation of SFDSC. Develop and ensure the requisite processes for undertaking Design Reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs and HASANs are adequate.Author safety assessments and reports reflecting one's own capabilities and time constraints.Provide subject matter expert guidance on nuclear safety matters to the project, company senior management and relevant stakeholders. Identifying relevant nuclear safety (case) learning and established processes from elsewhere in the group for implementing in the project.Manage the safety case modification process (during construction), including impact assessments and change control during construction.Liaise with ONR and represent the organization during the licensing on the safety case assessment process.

Will have a demonstrable record of delivering a range of nuclear safety cases through authoring, contract management of third parity delivery:7 years + in the delivery of safety cases in an authoring role.5 years + in the setting to work of safety consultants, developing specifications and scopes of work, developing safety case methodologies and assessment strategies.Will be established senior level in their current employment one or more specific areas of safety analysis e.g. human factors, shielding, criticality and with a good understanding of these other topics.Experience of the treatment of non-nuclear (conventional hazards) in safety cases preferred.Experienced in safety assessment governance, challenge and review and regulator liaison.Candidates with specific experience of the nuclear fuel cycle (e.g. enrichment, deconversion, fuel fabrication etc.) will be of particular interest.

Job description
The HVAC System Technical Lead will primarily support the Hinkley Point C project, with potential involvement in the Sizewell C project. Based in Bristol, the role involves collaboration with experts from Edvance France and other EPR-E discipline departments. The Technical Lead will support a system group lead with coordinating several system engineers to ensure project priorities are met. They oversee and perform technical checks of the design and documentation of HVAC systems as well as technical open points and design changes.
They will also have to support Sizewell C replication strategy by contributing to impact analysis of evolution from the design reference, procurement changes and overseeing SZC deliverable production.
They will report operationally to their System Group Lead and functionally to the Fluid & HVAC Systems discipline manager.
The position requires occasional business trips to France and Germany.
As a HVAC System Technical Lead, you will:
• Support preparation of Systems Design Manuals and design system components, including P&IDs and heat load calculations.
• Support population and management of process databases (prioritising implementations, monitoring the implementation progress, performing technical checks on data consistency)
• Oversee configuration management and modifications for their delegated scope
• Provide technical oversight and advice to system engineers, ensuring quality and adherence to milestones.
• Manage supplier feedback impacting system design and ensure compliance with UK legislation and best practices.
• Represent the Systems department in technical forums.
• Drive continuous improvement within the systems team through the use of Nuclear Professionalism and Error Reduction Tools
Profile
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills
• Mechanical or Process Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
• Relevant experience in the nuclear industry
