    Legal Cashier/ Payments /Legal Sector/ Annual Bonus/ Hybrid Working (2 Days WFH) / Excellent Benefits Forge Talent are supporting a highly successful City Centre Law Firm with a newly created opportunity within their accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for a positive, motivated and proactive Legal Cashier/ Finance Assistant to join a friendly and family focussed organisation as they continue to grow. Previous experience gained within the legal sector with an understanding of Solicitors Accounting Rules is highly advantageous. Legal Cashier Responsibilities: Assisting the Accounts team to handle, manage and record varied and high-volume financial transactions. Regularly checking online banking platforms to manage and record incoming and outgoing bank transactions in accordance with Solicitors Accounts Rules Proactively identifying the nature of incoming transactions and entering details into the practice accounting system, investigating as required to ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounting Rules. Entering details of payments into the on-line banking platforms and managing the payments through the appropriate levels of approvals and authorisations. Maintain effective communication with the legal teams and clients, to build strong and trusting relationships. Assisting the legal teams to explain and understand financial transactions, providing ad hoc financial support to the legal teams as required. Support the Credit Control team with contacting clients to request outstanding payments as required. Support continual improvements by proactively identifying ways to improve working practices to support efficiency, accuracy and compliance. Support the wider Finance Team with additional tasks as required Legal Cashier Required Experience: Previous experience in the capacity as a Legal Cashier or Finance Assistant with exposure to bank reconciliations and posting of incoming and outgoing payments. A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy. Previous experience of working in a legal/ professional services sector environment, with an understanding of Solicitors Accounting Rules is highly advantageous Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues and legal teams, including Senior Partners. The ability to explain financial processes and to challenge appropriately where required to ensure compliance. The ability to work to strict time deadlines, prioritising tasks accordingly within a fast paced and changeable environment. Strong IT and computerised systems skills (intermediate and above Excel skills) A desire to learn new skills and contribute to departmental enhancements. A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Proactively building positive working relationships across the finance function and wider firm. This position will be based on 3 days working from the Manchester office based on hours 0900-1730. This is a business-critical role that will take full responsibility for leading the end-to-end transformation of the Accounts Payable function during a period of rapid business growth. You will manage and train the team to ensure that the departments efficiency is maintained whilst setting future standard procedures. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced transformation specialist who has proven experience of driving enhancements in a larger business environment. Experience of using NetSuite is essential as is the ability to identify and dive efficiencies through the use of AI. This will initially be a 6 month requirement but there is a strong potential that the role will be extended. Key Responsibilities: Define and drive the AP transformation roadmap, aligning priorities with the senior finance team and wider business strategy. Identify and prioritise process improvement opportunities across all areas of AP, including invoice processing, vendor management, payment runs, and reconciliation. Lead the end-to-end redesign of AP processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and control. Identify and implement automation and digital solutions compatible with NetSuite to streamline invoice processing, approvals, and payment workflows. Identify, evaluate, and embed AI tools into AP workflows, upskilling the team to adopt to them confidently and sustainably. Manage the AP team for the duration of the contract, providing day-to-day leadership, support, and direction. Align the teams personal development plans to the transformation objectives and broader Finance department goals. ` Design and document comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key AP processes, ensuring they are clear, practical, and fit for a scaling business. Establish robust controls and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements. Lead the implementation of approved process changes, managing stakeholder communication and securing confidence from the wider business. Develop a detailed succession plan for the AP function to sustain improvements. Required Experience: Proven experience of leading an AP Transformation project within a larger business environment Experience of identifying and embedding AI tools, ensuring increased efficiency. Be a subject matter expert in the end-to-end AP and PTP process. Full working knowledge of NetSuite is essential Proven experience of implementing structured change plans to build scalable, future-ready finance operations. Experience of managing a transformation project within a retail or ecommerce business is highly advantageous. Strong people leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a team to adapt to new processes and ways of working. An analytical and detail focussed mentality and approach to data. Strong SOP documentation and process mapping skills. Excellent stakeholder management and change leadership skills.
