    Five Education is recruiting a proactive and resilient learning support assistant and mentor to work alongside students at an alternative education provider in South Bristol. This centre caters to post-compulsory age young people (16+) with a range of SEMH needs. Many of the pupils present with challenging behaviour and so we are seeking composed, confident and collaborative individuals able to provide consistency and set boundaries in challenging situations.

    Experience in education, care, youth work or behaviour support is highly desirable, though not essential: your attitude and ability to build trust are what matter most.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Provide structured 1:1 or small group support to students with behavioural needs

    • Use de-escalation strategies and consistent boundaries to manage challenging behaviour

    • Work closely with other staff to implement behaviour plans and support strategies

    • Encourage students to re-engage with learning through positive relationships and tailored support

    Essential Criteria:

    • Confident, proactive, and emotionally resilient

    • Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs

    • Available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30-15:30 (term-time only)

These positions involve supporting students with a variety of additional needs such as ASC, Down syndrome, ADHD and SEMH difficulties. We work with both mainstream and specialist schools, with opportunities to support pupils from early years through to secondary school.

    Some roles will see you working 1:1 with a specific student, while others will involve offering more general classroom support. In all cases, you'll be providing tailored assistance to help young people develop socially, emotionally and academically. While prior experience is welcome, it's not essential. We're looking for people who are compassionate, adaptable, and confident when it comes to managing behaviour.

    Main Responsibilities:

    Five Education is looking for a teacher to teach a special class in a mainstream primary school in Ilminster, the role starts as soon as possible. The students in the class all have an EHCP with a range of identified SEMH needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering materials to a small class, ensuring outcomes are met and tailoring activities to meet the individual needs of the children. This will be through a therapeutic and nurturing approach guided by the students' interests and the National Curriculum. You will be working with a specialized team of support staff and multi-professionals to ensure pupils' needs are fulfilled and strategies are put into place.

    The successful candidate will need to be a qualified teacher with significant SEND/ SEMH experience and would be comfortable leading a team of experienced staff.
