    Job description About you:We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated conservator with skill sets that complement the existing team: preferably a scientific training in archaeological conservation and a strong interest or specialism in ethnographic and Natural History conservation. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills with experience in delivering projects to tight deadlines. The postholder will be an effective team worker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an awareness of the latest conservation developments. About the role: Responsible to the Museum’s Conservation Officer, the post of Senior Conservator is critical to the successful running of the conservation department and the delivery of Museum development and improvement projects. The role involves practical conservation of a wide range of materials both for permanent and temporary display and preventive conservation tasks, such as pest management, environmental monitoring and storage improvement projects.
    The postholder will assist with RAMM’s busy exhibition and loan schedule and support income generation through external client work. The Senior Conservator will work closely with the technical support team and be responsible for supervising student conservators hosted by the department.

    About the team: The Award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum has wide-ranging collections of over 1.5 million items, including Archaeology & Antiquities, Fine & Decorative Arts, Costume, Natural Sciences and a designated World Cultures Collection. There is a vibrant programme of temporary exhibitions and activities, loans, and collaborative projects ranging from local communities to National Museums. It is unusual among regional museums of its size in supporting an in-house conservation department working on a variety of projects, including both preventive and hands-on conservation. The department also manages the exhibitions technical support team, who work closely with conservators for mount-making, exhibition installation and loan transport. Read Less

    In this role, you will:

    Develop, implement and continuously improve customer-focused programmes across all Exeter Leisure facilities.

    Oversee the delivery of high-quality group exercise sessions and events that retain current members and attract new ones.

    Manage and coordinate sessional staff and instructors, including rota creation and day-to-day support.

    Design timetables that maximise participation and ensure programmes complement each other across sites.

    Secure suitable spaces, ensure capacity requirements are met, and complete risk assessments for all activity areas.

    Work closely with our Marketing team to plan and deliver targeted promotional campaigns.

    Support the wider objectives of the Council through programme innovation and community engagement.

    Contribute to broader Culture, Leisure & Tourism duties as required, including project work, internal rotation and absence cover.
