First Option (an ERM Group Company) are the industry leaders in production safety, wellbeing, and sustainability, supporting hundreds of projects each year, across the UK and worldwide. First Option require a London (or within reasonable commute i.e. one hour) based Health and Safety Consultant to support our clients. The role is varied where one day you could be visiting locations with a High-End TV production to recce locations and produce risk assessments, providing onsite support abroad to support higher risk activities such as stunts and SFX, carrying out safety inspections in studio and office environments or supporting large-scale events with thousands of people or a small brand activation. You will be providing health and safety advice, information, and training with the aim of ensuring the creative ideas of our clients can be achieved safely. If you work best with minimum supervision, can demonstrate a high level of competence in safety management and provide creative solutions to health and safety issues, you will find this role offers stimulating and rewarding challenges.This position calls for someone with excellent communication skills and who can think creatively. You will need to be professionally qualified (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent) and ideally have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role. PURPOSE

    Working to the Head of Safety Services and in close liaison with colleagues:1.Provide timely professional advice to the client(s) managers and staff regarding their policies and plans for the management of health, safety and areas of risk associated with their activities.2.Provide onsite support, where required by the client, and advise on any activities that may be taking place.3.Undertake, as directed, pro-active monitoring and auditing of outsourced contractors. Make subsequent recommendations as to suitable and sufficient methods of reducing the risks to an agreed and acceptable level.4.As directed, lead or assist in the development, delivery, and subsequent administration of training programmes to meet the strategic needs of the client(s).5.Promote awareness of appropriate reference material in whatever available format by working closely with line managers to ensure accessibility, usage and understanding.6.Investigate accidents and where appropriate, compile adequate reports on such occurrences to ensure legal requirements are met with regard to reporting.7.Undertake activities associated with monitoring and audit of the effectiveness of departmental risk management activities.8.Ensuring the client(s) is kept aware of any significant issues and work with them to rectify and manage.

    PERSON SPECIFICATION
    QUALIFICATIONS1.A recognised Health and Safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ, NCRQ.2.Technical membership of IOSH and working towards Certified Membership status (or IIRSM).3.Educated to GCSE standard Maths and English or equivalent.4.Proficient in the use Microsoft Office or similar.
    KEY ROLE REQUIREMENTS1.Minimum 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role (e.g. as advisor, consultant).2.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.3.Current knowledge of health and safety legislation and guidance.4.An understanding of the importance of maintaining operational priorities whilst not compromising safety or professional standards.5.Highly planned and organised approach to work with the ability to prioritise effectively.6.Effective at persuading and influencing at all levels within the business.
