    The Role
    As a Senior Ecologist you will be responsible for leading the delivery of a wide range of ecology projects and programmes of work from inception to completion, as well as supporting and mentoring less experienced Ecologists to develop and apply their technical and professional skills as effectively as possible.
    This is a permanent role with options for remote, hybrid and flexible working and we are open to full time or part time applicants.  With projects throughout the country, a head office in Stockport and regional workspaces in London and Derbyshire, we are flexible on location.
    Your key responsibilities will be:
    Planning, resourcing and delivering ecological surveys
    Producing fee proposals and tenders
    Production of written reports including PEA, BNG, EcIAs
    Engaging with clients and sub-contractors
    Quality assurance of others’ written work
    Mentoring and training of junior ecologists


    RequirementsIt’s really important to us that we find people that will thrive at Envance. We are looking for people that have the following attributes;
    Self-starter, keen to develop professionally and use initiative to find solutions
    Takes pride in quality written work
    Experience in ecological impact assessment, PEA, BNG and managing survey programmes
    Protected species licences and/or a specific area of ecological expertise
    Experience of or desire to lead survey teams and/or mentor early career ecologists
    Experience in tendering and preparing fee proposals
    A relevant degree and applied professional experience
    Associate or full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or appetite to achieve this.
    GIS software skills in ARCGIS or QGIS
    Have a full UK driving licence.

    This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark renewable energy project in one of Scotland’s most scenic regions. You’ll work with a forward-thinking team dedicated to sustainable development and environmental best practice.
    As the ECoW, you will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance throughout the construction phase. You will be responsible for monitoring adherence to the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), with particular attention to requirements concerning breeding birds, protected mammals, and other ecological constraints.
    Key Responsibilities
    Monitor construction activities to ensure full compliance with the CEMP and environmental legislation.
    Undertake site inspections and audits, providing advice and guidance to the construction team.
    Liaise with project managers, contractors, and environmental specialists to identify and address potential environmental issues.
    Record and report findings, maintaining detailed environmental monitoring logs.
    Support ongoing ecological protection measures and mitigation monitoring.

    RequirementsRelevant degree (e.g., Environmental Science, Ecology, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
    Proven experience as an Environmental Clerk of Works or similar role within large scale construction.
    Strong understanding of ecological and environmental management practices, particularly relating to protected species.
    Excellent communication and reporting skills.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Available to be on site regularly, particularly during the initial phases of construction.
