    The role is to chair the Board and the General Meetings of members, and to work closely with the chief executive. The appointment fills one of the organisation’s three independent non-executive director roles. The chair is focused on the business of the organisation, with very little involvement in ambassadorial roles which are the primary responsibility of the president, past president and president-elect (none of which are on the board).The chair is a Board appointment (subject to ratification by the members) and the appointee can serve up to three years per term of office, and up to two terms.Independent directors were introduced following major constitutional change in 2017, and the first independent chair is about to conclude the permitted maximum of six years in office. During this time, England Golf received public funding designated for golf from Sport England and, therefore, is bound by the Sport England Code for Sports Governance.The chair role: Provide leadership and direction for the Board and through the General Meetings in order to achieve the objectives of England Golf.Ensure the organisation runs to the highest standards of corporate governance and best practice, and in an open, equitable and transparent way, always in the interests of its members and the game as a whole.Guide and assist through leadership of the Board and General Meetings in the development, approval and monitoring of England Golf's strategic plan, its business plan, financial plan and annual plans, and the risk register.Challenge, support and work with the chief executive in relation to delegated powers and duties, creation of organisational strategy and plans, and their execution, working closely with the Board.Contribute through the Board and relationship with the chief executive to provide operational excellence, policy formulation and review, the best management of financial resources, and effective staff and stakeholder management.Advise and guide the members of the Board, chief executive and executive staff and more widely.Represent and promote the best interests of the organisation and the game to the widest audience. Further information: The expected time commitment is in the region of 20 days.The role is entitled to a directors’ fee of £18,000 per annum as well as expenses for attending meetings as required and any other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.     As the digital communications manager you will lead and manage all digital communications platforms. We require someone to bring specialist knowledge and skills to the application and integration of digital channels, particularly the website, to ensure they are aligned to the organisation’s vision, strategic objectives, corporate marketing and communications strategy and other specific campaign messaging.

    The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
    • A knowledge of the full marketing mix including PR, social networking and offline/online communications
    • A track record of managing website content and development at a strategic level
    • Significant experience of email campaign design, delivery and management
    • Experience of managing multiple social media platforms as a promotional tool
    • Knowledge and experience of using Google analytics and implementing improvements to digital presence and traffic through a strategic search engine optimisation vision.

    The successful applicant needs to be self-motivated with a ‘can do’, results driven approach. You need to have excellent attention to detail, robust organisational skills, the capability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and colleagues. A knowledge of the game of golf is desirable.

    The post is full-time (Monday – Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm core hours) however, you will need to be prepared to travel and work evenings and weekends on occasion as necessary. The position is based at England Golf Headquarters, The National Golf Centre, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, LN10 6PU. We offer a hybrid working arrangement (three days in office and two from home) following our 6-week onboarding process.

The performance team look after our players, coaches and support staff at an amateur elite level of golf, and within this role you will support with the performance development of our amateur players through county coaching and competitive opportunities, whilst also promoting education, enjoyment and player welfare, within a high-performance culture.You must be able to demonstrate: Knowledge of golf and it’s structure, especially performance and coaching.Excellent project management and programme implementation skills.An understanding of safeguarding in sport.Organisational skills and the ability to develop effective processes.Excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with individuals, players, parents, volunteers, and staff at all levels.
