Could you be our next Highways Lighting Operative to join the team and drive this success forwards? What will I be doing in this role? As a Highways Lighting Operative, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of highway lighting systems such as streetlights, traffic signs and other street furniture. Some of your role will involve: Operating a HIAB HGV to transport, lift, and position street lighting columns, bollards, and traffic signs Installing street lighting columns and associated street furniture (non-electrical) Carrying out excavation, groundwork, and foundation preparation for installations Removing and replacing damaged or old columns, signs, and bollards Using hand tools and plant equipment to complete installations to specification Working closely with team members to coordinate site activities and minimise disruption to traffic and pedestrians Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations and site procedures Maintaining accurate job records using handheld devices Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment checks to ensure safe operation What do I need to be successful in the role? This team is responsible for the ongoing streetlighting works in Hampshire and Southampton as part of the South Coast PFI. In a typical day, you could expect to be: Maintaining our streetlighting infrastructure including, but not limited to, streetlights, signs, and subways, including lamp changes, visual inspections, and electrical testing Carry out electrical connections to new street lighting infrastructure Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs Ensuring we deliver outstanding service to our clients and the public Operating a mobile elevated working platform (MEWP) Attending the emergency standby rota, which consists of being on call to attend emergency call outs out of hours Monday to Sunday Working to strict safety guidelines and regulations What do I need to be successful in the role? We are looking for you to bring your previous experience working in the Highways industry, we would also love you to have: You will have an electrical background and will have completed NVQ Level 2 We work in all weathers, so you need to be the type of person who is happy working outdoors all year round A lot of this role will be working at height, so you need to be comfortable working in a MEWP above the ground more than 12m We do need you to have a full UK Manual Driving Licence as we cover a wide range of locations Some of our nice to haves are; We would look for you to hold IPAF/PASMA working at heights training It would be a benefit if you have a good knowledge of the 18th Edition If you are qualified to AM2, City and Guilds 2391 qualification this would be a benefit but not essential Completion of G39/Safe Isolation Training We can however support the right candidate to achieve any level of industry training/qualifications they may not have in the nice to have list.
