    About The Role At EKFB we’re shaping Infrastructure for a better tomorrow. All four of our partners (Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM) bring specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects.   We're currently looking for a Geotechnical Discipline Lead to join our team based in Milton Keynes.   In this role, you will be functionally responsible for leading the geotechnical, geology and I&M technical teams across the programme. You will provide specialist technical expertise to support each project within the programme, leading technical resolution to significant geotechnical challenges with a “best for project” mentality, accounting for contract requirements, cost, schedule, risk etc.     You will drive progressive technical assurance of construction-stage technical closeout of items such as the ground risk registers, geotechnical feedback reports and monitoring reports, ensuring technical quality is in accordance with client expectations. You will ensure timely delivery of construction stage technical documentation from design consultants to enable handover in accordance with schedule needs and key dates.   Key responsibilities include, ownership of programme-wide standard details and contract requirements (technical) within area of responsibility. In collaboration with the projects’ technical leads, you'll ensure the timely delivery of remaining geotechnical designs. You will lead team in effectively managing relevant commercial and contractual communications (TQs, EWs, EIs, CEs etc.) associated with area of responsibility with suppliers and client.   In addition, you will be a relationship owner and focal point for the client’s geotechnical subject matter experts to enable a productive and collaborative working relationship within the discipline. You will lead by example and promote good practice relating to geotechnical, geology and I&M, sharing learning across the programme.   About You Key Skills and Qualifications:   Degree qualified and extensive experience in technical earthworks design and construction support roles.  Excellent knowledge of relevant earthworks design standards and its applicability for the design. Chartered (e.g. CEng MICE) professional qualification (desirable).  Ability to lead and manage a team with competing priorities with a focus on what is ‘best for project’. Management of commercial/contractual aspects of projects with suppliers and client. Strong stakeholder management skills with experience of influencing and negotiating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and the ability to extract key points and communicate this to others. You will ensure all works are completed in line with approved method statements and risk assessments and the people carrying out the works have the required competencies. Assisting with temporary works design schemes, you will liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme and budget.   You'll be responsible for managing the site setting-out team and be responsible for the performance and development of the Site Engineers and also for identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub-Agent. You will be responsible for undertaking land/topographic/hydrographic/measured building surveys, using a variety of specialist equipment and technology, such as robotics and 3D scanners. Analyzing data using plans, maps, charts and software such as AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center and GIS (geographic information systems) programs is an important part of this role. You’ll be required to prepare survey drawings with the Senior Land Surveyor, presenting data to clients and writing reports.   You’ll coordinate with the Site Engineers for the priority of the project regarding implementation, changes of plans or deviations, unusual activities or non-conformances rectification work and coordinate with the consultant for Inspection & Approval. Setting out and as-built surveys. Carrying out Topographical and Engineering Surveys (Laser Scanner). You’ll need to manage the registration and post processing of Point Cloud Data. GNSS network surveying, precise traversing and precise levelling for breakdown from primary survey control and also managing Drones surveys for earthwork measures.   About You Key Skills and Qualifications: HND/degree in Land Survey, or Geomatics, or equivalent. Experience within a similar role and with similar values. Experience in preparing survey-related Method Statements and Risk Assessments. Expert knowledge of Trimble total stations, levels and GNSS receivers. Excellent AutoCAD skills to produce 2D and 3D drawings. Good communication (both written and verbal) skills. This role is based from our site compound office on the A41 - located just outside of Aylesbury. Due to the remote location of the office, we ask that all applicants hold a full driving license in order to be considered for the position.   In this role, you can expect to administrate the Information Management System and it’s supporting SharePoint structure to meet all compliance needs. We'd also need your support with quality, design and construction in the form of uploading and tracking status of construction documents.   The role will require you to manage Redline process and uploading complete drawings to Transportal. You'd also be responsible for correspondence and document management on various systems. You'll be working closely with other Admin teams within the section of works to ensure a smooth running of the offices and compounds with regards to administration. In this role you will be required to carry out tasks independently (and at times involve this will involve leading a small group of commercial staff) and will involve carrying out both periodical duties and one-off tasks in accordance with deadlines as directed by the senior Commercial team. Key part of this role is to prepare and agree variation accounts – main contract and sub-contracts. We would also need you to monitor cost against targets and contract progress against accepted programmes and work plans in conjunction with other team disciplines. We expect you to provide input into change control procedures for EOT, delays and performance adjustment. Another key part of the role is to prepare and agree interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts and sub-contract final accounts. Additionally, you will also need to prepare and issue certification and payment of sub-contractors. It’s essential that you provide contractual advice to management (ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations e.g. Timely issue of relevant notices). About You Key Skills and Qualifications: Qualified with a Quantity Surveying degree or similar. Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar). Experience at Quantity Surveyor level, displaying skill in delivering a positive commercial outcome for the project(s) with which you have been associated. The ability to listen, learn and take on board new concepts and carry out actions, whilst mentoring junior team members.
