The School of Construction delivers a wide range of education and training across the college. We have an exciting opportunity for a technician with a background in Construction to join a flexible team of professionals in supporting the provision of a quality teaching and learning environment at Edinburgh College. This post is key in ensuring that staff and students are appropriately supported with preparation of learning materials for not only the on-campus Construction curricular activity, but our ever and fast growing Bespoke and outreach activity. Whilst having an in-depth knowledge across many construction disciplines is essential, a formal trade qualification would be desirable as we would aim to utilise your profession throughout the school. You must also demonstrate having good ICT and communication skills. Industry experience is desirable though not essential. As part of this role you will be required to carry out or arrange routine maintenance of equipment through regular stocktaking, so you must have experience in record keeping systems and procedures, servicing/repair and ensuring machinery and equipment is maintained correctly and operated in accordance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW). You will also be required to assist in training and supervision of any new technician and/or work experience students, therefore, a ‘can do’ attitude is required. Although Granton Campus is the main base for our School of Construction, the successful candidate will be required to work cross-campus as well as facilitate bespoke training across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
