Job Summary Grade 7: £38,313.51 (£19.86 p/h) – £43908.14 (£22.76 p/h) Hours: 37 hours per week Location: Hilton Depot, Bishopbriggs Working Hours The role operates on a rotating shift pattern: • Dayshift: Mon–Thu (06:30 – 14:30), Fri (06:30 – 14:00) • Backshift: Mon–Thu (10:00 – 18:30), Fri (06:30 – 11:30) The Role We are looking for a qualified and experienced HGV Mechanic to join our fleet workshop team at the Hilton Depot. You will be responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of the Council’s entire vehicle and plant fleet. Reporting to the Workshop Co-ordinator, your day-to-day duties will involve servicing, safety inspections, and general repairs to industry standards. Working for a Council means variety. You won’t just be doing HGVs, you’ll work on cars, vans, sweepers, tractors, and specialised plant equipment. The priority is to ensure all work is completed to a high standard, always keeping our fleet roadworthy and safe. Please note that this position involves a compulsory standby element meaning the successful candidate will be required to participate in an emergency call-out rota (Callout payments not included in basic salary). In addition to the basic salary, there will be opportunities for overtime to meet operational demands.
