    UNIX/Solaris Engineer 12 months + £450 to £550 a day Inside IR35 Hybrid Working in Telford SC Clearance Required DXP Talent is seeking an experienced Solaris Engineer to provide support, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical infrastructure running on SunOS 5.10 and SunOS 5.11 platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, security, and availability of Solaris-based systems supporting business-critical applications and services. The role will involve working closely with infrastructure, security, application, and project teams to maintain operational excellence within a secure environment. Key Responsibilities Administer, support, and maintain Solaris (SunOS 5.10 and 5.11) environments. Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning. Manage operating system patching, upgrades, and security remediation activities. Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access controls in accordance with security policies. Investigate and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests within agreed service levels. Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides. Participate in change management processes, including implementation planning and execution. Support disaster recovery and business continuity testing activities. Collaborate with wider infrastructure and application teams to deliver operational and project-based work. Ensure systems remain compliant with organisational security and governance requirements. Administer and support Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) infrastructure. Configure and maintain storage connectivity, including SAN-attached systems and multipathing technologies. Perform system troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and incident resolution. Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes. Implement and maintain system hardening in accordance with security standards and compliance requirements. Participate in change management activities, including planning, testing, and implementation. Produce and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and operational runbooks.
