Location: Lemington, Newcastle Upon TyneHours: Up to 4 hours Saturday/Sunday Rate of pay: £14.00 per hour About me. Hi! My name is Alf, I’m 10 years old, and my Mam and Dad are looking for a special person to hang out with me and take me on fun adventures! I love gaming (seriously—I could talk about it for hours!), swimming, walks, the beach, trampolining, and anything that keeps me busy and having fun. Sometimes I find it hard to stay focused on things I’m not into, but if you love gaming or just having a laugh, we’ll get along great! I have Autism and ADHD, which means sometimes I can get stressed, impulsive, or shout when I’m feeling overwhelmed—but don’t worry, my family can help you learn how to help me calm down again. I also have a younger brother, Charlie, who has Autism and a learning disability too. We love each other but sometimes need space apart, which is where you come in! What I’m looking for: Someone kind, patient, and fun who loves to keep busy. Someone who enjoys gaming! Someone who can help me regulate when I’m stressed or upset (don’t worry, you’ll get advice and support from my grown-ups too). Ideally someone with experience of Autism and ADHD. A driver (preferred) who can take me to cool places like the park, beach, trampoline parks or even just for an ice cream. The Role: You’ll be my Personal Assistant—helping me have fun, explore new activities, and giving me some chill time away from home. Hours are mostly weekends, around 4 hours, but we’re flexible and can chat about what works for you. During school holidays, we might be able to plan even more fun adventures together. If you’re caring, full of energy, love gaming, and want to make a real difference in a young lad’s life, then I’d love to meet you! Hours: 4 hours per week in each school holidayArea: South Shields Rates of pay: Age related national minimum wage, up to £12.90 per hour Holidays: 5.6 weeks pro rata per annum We are looking for a Personal Assistant for a little seven-year-old boy. A woman would be preferred but Gran is willing to look at anyone who applies. He currently lives with his maternal grandmother and has done on and off since birth. He has a diagnosis of 22Q Chromosone deletion (DiGeorge Syndrome) as well as other health conditions and this has impacted on his learning, he is nonverbal and communicates through hand leading, pointing, some Makaton and gestures. Look past the illness and this is a cheeky loving little boy. He is usually good with people other than Gran, but he will push the boundaries to get his own way and sometimes a firm ‘no’ is needed and to distract him. There would be some personal care as Logan is in nappies, and does not know when he needs the toilet, he cannot walk very well and uses a buggy to get around, he will walk on his hands and knees, but can also run on tippy toes, so you would have to be aware of this, as he has no road sense, and would potentially go off with someone. He can be distracted by sensory input; he does not like the word ‘no’ or that he cannot have something he wants. He would love to spend time either in the house playing with noisy toys, watching Mr Tumble or get out of the house and play in the park or the garden. He likes Metro trains, going out in the car, soft play and going out for tea. Definite ‘no’ to cucumber and messy play! Gran is doing a great job, but a Personal Assistant would help greatly during the school holidays. If you are unable to complete an application online, you can request one by forwarding your name and address to quoting the reference number you wish to apply for and you will be sent one out in the post. All applications will be forwarded onto the individual service user/ employer. CVs will not be accepted.
