    Your RoleResidential Care Worker Are you an experienced Residential Care Worker looking for a new challenge?Ready to take the next step in your career and do something truly meaningful?Curious about working with Deaf young people and learning British Sign Language (BSL)?
    We’re seeking Residential Care Workers to join our inspiring team supporting our students (aged 9-25) to develop their independent living skills, whilst supporting their education. The role will be in our on-site residential flats at the Academy, working term time only.Every day as a Residential Care Worker is different. You’ll be supporting our young people who live in our to develop their independent living skills, as well as organising social activities, for example, activities in the local community, trips to the beach, cinema or bowling, as well as trips further afield. Our students spend their day in our School or College, some also doing work placements or qualifications elsewhere, after which they return to our residential care flats. The shift pattern for this role is therefore outside of 'school hours'.You’ll bring:Experience supporting children or young peopleA caring, resilient and positive approachA commitment to learning BSL (we’ll train you)Curiosity, teamwork and a desire to develop(Optional but beneficial) a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

    Every day is different. You’ll be:Supporting young people to build confidence and independenceOrganising and taking part in social activities — from beach trips to bowling, cinema outings, local activities and adventures further afieldCreating a positive, nurturing environment where young people can thriveWorking closely with residential, education and clinical teams to support each student’s goalsOur students attend School or College during the day (some also take part in external work placements) and return to the residential flats in the evenings — meaning your work will mostly take place outside of daytime education hours.
    Shift Pattern
    There are 2 teams that you may be placed in, each team works 42 hours per week, details of which can be discussed further at interview:2 teams that share a 2-week rota including weekends (working some evenings including sleep-ins, and 1 in every 2 weekends during the term)a team that work Monday to Friday across morning and afternoon/evening hours.

    *This position is working during the academy's term time, plus an additional 5 training days. The minimum salary for this role with no sleep-in rate applied is £24,823 per annum (this would apply to those only working the Monday-Friday shift pattern). The salary including sleep-ins may be up to £27,784 per annum (this includes payment for the maximum amount of sleep-ins possible for those working on full shift pattern), or £29,959 per annum for those at top of the pay scale.     Purpose of the role
    Private tenants are currently the most likely households, out of any housing sector, to be suffering fuel poverty. With this role we are offering you a unique and exciting opportunity to lead an innovative project that will make a real difference in this sector: upgrading the housing stock, saving energy, adding renewables and clean heat, reducing carbon emissions and making homes more affordable and comfortable for tenants to live in.Following recent policy changes, rental properties in the private sector need to meet a higher standard of energy performance by 2030. Landlords will need advice, support and guidance on how they can achieve this, so that tenants experience the improved standards that the policy intends to deliver.A consortium of advice organisations has secured funding for this project to accelerate progress in raising standards for private tenants across Devon, in line with the changes in landlords’ obligations. Based within 361 Energy (charity), as the manager responsible for this project you will work in partnership with energy advice charities/ 3rd sector organisations, Local Councils, retrofit services, landlords and tenants across Devon. Your role’s purpose will be to help make the goal of raising energy efficiency standards in private rented housing a reality. You will achieve this by developing and leading a programme of activities to drive up energy efficiency standards in this housing sector including:Developing clear and compelling advice and guidance for landlords and tenants, for use in print and online mediaImplementing a helpline (telephone and online), to provide advice and signposting for landlords and tenants towards guidance, grant funding, financing, technical advice services and home visits where neededWorking with local councils to identify and proactively communicate with private sector landlords prompting them on their obligations and how to get advice and support Attending and organising face to face events with tenants and landlordsCollating data, monitoring outcomes and taking ownership of the project’s evolution to ensure delivery of its goals
