The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires an Engineering Manager lead, manage and coordinate construction engineering for the Earthworks Portion during the ECI and Construction phases. br br The role is targeted at enabling construction teams to deliver successfully on site, commencing in 2024. br br The areas of focus are: Methods Engineering integrate design and construction methods through the technical lifecycle Contractors Design integration of Contractors Temporary Works with the Permanent Works Digital Engineering pre-construction digital rehearsals and data capture during construction. br br Right First Time construction engineering quality, safety, sustainability Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions Definition of methods alongside design development, to ensure works are safe, sustainable and economic to build. br br Embed the principles of Method Led and Modern Methods of construction. br br Developing technical solutions that take cognisance of the site constraints, including legal constraints defined in the DCO. br br Understand the consenting requirements and engagement with the client and external bodies where necessary for timely submission and approval of consents. br br Definition of Temporary Works, defining requirements and managing delivery of TW designs, including all necessary approvals. br br Define requirements jointly with the SZC designers for any Contractor Design of the Permanent works, develop Scope and RACI documents. br br Source and manage Contractor Design resources. br br Understand Lessons learnt from HPC (First of a Kind) to transfer to SZC (Next of a Kind), working with the Sizewell C client and CWA to embed the learning. br br Understand the Assurance Requirements of the highly regulated nuclear environment and incorporate into the definition of the works, programme and price. br br Oversight of site construction engineering including quality, materials testing, surveying What are we looking for?     About us Be part of this once in a generation project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity. The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing ORourke. The Role To manage and lead a team of HSW professionals providing support and guidance to the operational teams to deliver and comply with the project and CWA HSW goals and objectives throughout the pre-construction, construction, and post construction process, ensuring all legal obligations are met. To provide a high level of support to the operational teams to enable the safe delivery of work. To work closely with the HSW Director providing tactical support and HSW data and feedback from the work stream. This role will be assigned to the Enabling and Earthworks stream essential in helping us achieve the JO project milestone. The Process Architecture Lead is responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously improving the Civil Works Alliance's end-to-end process architecture framework within the IMS. The role ensures that business processes across the Alliance are clearly defined, standardised, integrated, well-structured in folders, and aligned with organisational objectives, regulatory requirements in the Integrated Management System (IMS). Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the CWA Process Architecture and Process Framework within the IMS: Maintain and improve the process hierarchy, process maps, value streams, and process repository. Establish clear process ownership structures and accountability across the Alliance. Ensure alignment between business processes, organisational objectives, and contractual requirements. Implement process automation opportunities across the functions to improve efficiency. Lead the IMS platform improvement programme, assessing the suitability of the current platform, identifying integration requirements with site-based tools and business systems, and implementation enhancements or recommending further solutions (process intelligence platform alternative solutions to deliver an optimised digital management system. Develop and embed process management capability across the Alliance: Provide coaching and guidance to process owners and function leads on process digitalisation and process automation to improve efficiency and user experience. Foster a process-led culture that promotes accountability and improves document management and maintenance. Support audits, including external ISO certification audits, by demonstrating robust process architecture, governance, and compliance. To support the TOC team in delivery of the TOC programme by ensuring risk management data is as mature as is practicable, ready for modelling. To support the wider CWA risk management team in the monthly reporting exercises. To assist the wider team in the development of QRA analysis, when required. Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions Provide day-to-day management of risk threats and opportunities within one or more Sections of the Alliance and ensure compliance with risk management procedures. Prepare and implement the schedule (drumbeat) of the periodic risk management activities. Ensure the right people are invited and participate in risk and mitigation reviews. Prepare and facilitate meetings, reviews, and workshops to identify, analyse and mitigate risks. Conduct qualitative, quantitative, and business risk assessments to advise risk managers, team and stakeholders. Ensure that all risk registers are up to date, that risks are regularly reviewed, and that appropriate risk treatments are in place and acted upon. Provide regular reports to project and risk managers on the risk status of sections, offering advice on contingency management. Establish and coordinate a register of risk and value management activities. Support risk and value management processes in other functional areas of the Alliance. Support the risk manager in carrying out schedule and cost risk quantification, risk assurance and risk governance activities. What are we looking for? Essential: Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, enabling effective communication with project managers, estimators, planners, engineers and section leaders. Be able to work effectively within the Alliance delivery teams and the wider Client programme. Be an expert in all aspects of project and business risk management facilitation. Proficiency in facilitating risk sessions and proactively obtaining risk data updates from relevant individuals and subject matter experts. Have the ability and willingness to learn how to build complex cost, schedule, and business risk models using various applications. Be able to coach and challenge management and non-specialists on the process and results of risk management. Exhibit a high level of proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail when handling and manipulating datasets, preparing documentation, slides and reports. Possess knowledge of risk management, project management and project control techniques and processes.
